yes, instead of making sweet potatoes with brown sugar or marshmallows (yuck!) Try slicing thin & sauteing in olive oil with crushed garlic & diced onion?
Sweet potato pie instead of pumpkin pie
roast a duck or a goose instead of a turkey
Chuck the whole turkey thing, & bake a ham
Instead of a big turkey, do several entree's-salmon, rib roast, chicken,
Have a pot-luck T-day, everyone cook & bring a seperate dish
Go traditional/spirtual, set aside the gluttony & spend the day in fasting & prayer/meditation.

Well when I was little my dad used to make BBQ ribs and other normal side dishes that go along with a cook out like corn on the cob and cole slaw and french fries. This is unusual because we live in a colder climate, there were never any unusual warm temps on the years that we made ribs.
