A few years ago I didn't have alot of money to get gifts for christmas for my extended family and friends, so I invited them all over for a cookie party and had the kids all make ornaments they could take home. It was a hit and now we do it every year. I make sure to have a basic cookie recipe and all the ingredients for it, they bring anything they want to add to the cookies and we each make a few (ok not a few but alot) dozens of the cookies. Then we all sit in front of the TV drink cocoa or eggnog and nibble on the cookies and watch a christmas movie. It takes the whole day doesn't cost alot, and we all enjoy spending the time together and we all have enough cookies that we can give those as gifts to other people too (like the garbage man or mail person) This year we have agreed that any extra cookies are going to the nurses at Mott's Childrens Hospital. It is fun and it brings the holiday spirit to alot of us that are feeling a little stressed by our financial difficulties.

My family has a pretty standard Christmas tradition. We put lights up outside, and buy a Christmas tree. We used to hide a glass pickle in the tree, and whoever found it got to open the first present, but then the pickle broke. We go to my meeting(I'm a quaker) and there's a candlelight meeting for worship service on Christmas eve. The next morning, we open our stockings. We wait for everyone to wake up, and then we open the presents under the tree. My dad makes pork roll and then my other family members come and eat lunch with us. My parents make Bouillabaisse, and we open our presents from our other family members. My mom makes a yule log. Then, everyone leaves and I call my best friend and we talk about what we got and stuff. I love Christmas sooooo much. Especially when it snows :)

We as a family usually get up in the morning, put the tree lights on and sit by the tree and open pressies together, i then prepare dinner while hell lets loose in the living room, i go to midnight mass to reflect how lucky we are and meet up with family, this year though things wont be the same because my hubby is away in Iraq over Xmas so we will be doing something different this year, of course i will try to keep things as normal as possible but it wont be the same, to all those people out there who are alone this Xmas my heart goes out to you and hope you can have good time, god bless and a very happy Christmas to you all.

Well, like most families we put a tree up. Also, we have this strange tradition, but it always makes it REALLY feel like Christmas when we do it; every Christmas eve my brother, sister, and usually mom, and I play monopoly until like 4 A.M.

I'm not a fan of X-mas at all but the rest of my family is. I don't decorate but I do buy gifts for my parents, siblings, and boyfriend. I have 4 younger siblings, 3 of which are still at home so my parents bring all the gifts to my house and I do all the wrapping and haul it all over there on X-mas eve night like Santa Claus. There are so many gifts My sister and father wake everyone up at the buttcrack of dawn, mom my starts the coffee pot, and the shredding begins. My dad walks around with a trashbag picking up wrapping paper and saying "don't throw away any directions so I know how to put it together!"

We gather together Christmas Eve night and watch "A Christmas Story". The only lights are coming from the TV and our beautifully lit tree(but not always easily lit-lol-Christmas memory!) There are more, but I could fill a book!
Merry Christmas to all!- im already eager!

My mum always puts two christmas trees up and makes sure all the lights are around the house and the gates. She always makes sure the christmas tree has these lights that play songs and that the decorations are all matching. She loves to put stuff outside the house and make it more attractive.
We always have a big dinner, too. :)
