We've been living the "back to nature, live off the land, etc., etc." Ok it was fun, but now I'm getting old--54--I work all day and really don't want to come home and chuck wood in the stove, gather eggs, feed the moo cows and all that stuff that we do!! Our kids think we're totally wacko and I'm beginning to agree!! Ok maybe I'm just cranky cause it's 10 below out. But there are days I think--"Dam, this is what my grandparents worked so hard for to QUIT doing!!" I've found myself more and more wanting to leave this cabin, land and critters and go to that condo in town!! So is it just the weather and I'll be better come spring?? Is this literally "cabin fever"?

My friend just did amazing at her singing at the local bar, (she is black. I am white) when some white guy stands up and yells "Get of the stage *******! You aren't good enough for us!" That moment it felt like someone just stabbed me in the chest and I was going to die. My friend runs off the stage crying hysterically and so we go to the hotel room and she said the next morning that she had a dream about the night before. Have you ever expierenced descrimination like that before? Do you have any tips on what to do? I am so sad I am about ready to die. Any support or tips help! Thank you so much!

I continue to hear people say that the word means ignorant. But there must be somekind of subconcious racist conspiracy brewing because I have never seen that definition anywhere. And I just checked again (go to dictonary.com or merriam-webster if you dont believe me).

My understanding is that the word comes from a transliteration of the word Niger (the region where any black come from in Africa) or the Latin word ***** which simply means black.

So where the does the ignorant connotation come from?

like if you have curly hair, you want straight hair, brown hair you want blonde, and viseversa, you never have all the money you want, your house is never big enough. What makes people like that? Can anyone honestly say they are happy with EVERYTHING in their lives?

So, my two youngest brothers are both black. One of them is the only black boy in his school and they put him in ESL. (We've raised him since he was an infant.) What can I do to help keep them safe from it, at least while they're little (one is 11 the other is 5.) I'm 22 so I kind of feel like another mother to them.

it seems to me that many whites (not all) are not happy with the diversity, and a multiracial America (especially blacks when it was the whites that brought them to America for slavery). so is it time for the angry white people to find somewhere to have their all white utopia? im not racist, dont get all angry, just a question.

Really i mean italians are just pretty much mis-placed arabs..
Well.. at least southeren italians are. The only big difference i see between the 2 is culture and language.. and those are the only 2 BIG differences, if you go look back enough in time arabs invaded southern parts of italy, as so do the moores.. how can these people be white?
Because they are from europe, europe is only a continent, how can you form a continent soil and dirt to blood and genetics?

So he comes up to me and he was like you look good and i was like thanks and then i ignored him cause you know i want him to go away since i'm not into black guys and he keep persisting about how gorgeous i am and i'm like look if you promise to go away i'll let you touch my hair. And then he's like what time should i pick you up and i start laughing and i tell him you actually think someone like me would ever go out with someone like you? Ok, so I refered to my new interest as "the black guy" well he is, and then like everyone jumped down my back, but he is, whats wrong with saying what he is, Its not that im into black guys but I know Iike have a chance of getting A LOT of money from him, because thats what they do (basketball palyer)
All I have to do is deal with it and I can increase my wealth in less than 3 years.

it seems to me i am hearing a lot of racial comments from the african american community. recently coming from radio stations where they enjoy making fun of 'white ghostly skin; white trash,etc.But if a white person comes out with similiar comments related to blacks they loose jobs or branded a kkk. anybody else can relate to this.

Before you spazz out, I mean when can we actually put in the hispanic, black, indian, & asian perspectives in our history books? Last book I checked from my younger cousins they told the entire history of their state/country & decided to forget about the last 4 groups! No one asks about Phyllis Wheatley with literature, Benjamin Banneker for Architecture, Pontiac indian chief, the dakotahs or Julio cesar Chavez union organizer. We wouldn't be so darn separate or annoyed when you tried to get in on our subculture if this was normalized.
