Middle school kids - what's your definition of "emo"?
Should I be worried if my child is hanging out with kids who are "emo"? Are they all cutters - or do they just like certain music and dress a certain way? She's 12 and in the 7th grade.

Emo is a lighter version of goth. But remeber that not all emos cut or hurt themselves, but check and make sure your daughter is not hurting herself. get to know her friends. Some emos are posers. (posers are people who act like people they are not, if you didnt know) Some emos just dress sad and depressed cause thats how they feel. Make sure you have a good relationship with your daughter, cause if you dont and she starts to hurt herself, who is she going to go to? Aprove and support her decisions and new fashion. But remember to see that shes safe and not harming others.

Emo means "emotional" and i don't mean to sound like i'm making a sweeping generalization but a lot of Emos are Unhappy and DO cut themselves. your daughter at her young age should be interacting with more positive influences. :-)

I'm in her grade, emo's are gang bangers, I can't stand. Have her locker checked for drugs find out from ppls at school who her friends r and if she wears black alot she's prob emo
