I don't know about Eskimos, but I laugh at us in England! I am British but spent a few years living in the States, in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota. We used to get up and go to school at 7am with several feet of snow on the ground, big lakes frozen over completely, and a wind chill factor so cold that I can't bear to remember it.
In Milwaukee we had 3 to 4 feet of frozen solid snow on the ground in the early 1990s, and it didn't shift for months. We moved from the UK in January 1990 and my God, that was a shock - the area of Chicago we lived in was buried under snow, ice and slush. I used to live very close to O'Hare airport and they somewhat more efficient that Stanstead and Luton!
Half an inch of snow here, and all aspects of life grind to a halt! I know conditions are a lot worse than that at the moment, but it's still ridiculous.
That said, it isn't surprising. We're not used to this weather here, whereas in the US they have blanket snow for months in the colder areas. They have the experience, the means and the time to deal with it, because they had no choice. We haven't had that to anywhere near the same extent.

I laugh at us. If we had weather like they do in Canada then the weather forecasters would probably just tell us all to just go out and shoot ourselves because the end is nigh!
It's also always a much bigger thing if snow falls down south that other parts of the UK. If snow falls in London it's headline news, anywhere people rarely bat an eyelid.
Anyway, is this 6" of snow all just gonna fall down in one big lump, cos it's 2am and I don't see none yet.

Probably but I love the snow. I can't understand why our transport system can't cope with a few inches of snow. It's embarrassing.

Just FYI Eskimo is a culturally insensitive word. It basically means flesh eaters (which is not characteristic of their culture).

Being an Australian living in the UK, I find it all very interesting and rather bizarre.
