When I drive on the Dan Ryan through Chicago, I often see
tennis shoes hanging from the electric lines near the
housing projects. What is the significance of that?

Do you think they are users or hard workers. I have had experience of people accusing of using white men to get in country and get money. Is it mostly Flipina and Indonesian being picked on. Why?

To me being Filipino is being a mix of different cultures and ethnic backgrounds arising from the same country- my parents are from the Philippines and they consider themselves pure Filipino. I have very pale skin (from Mom), am slim but not extremely petite and my last name is not Spanish, but French. My Dad's own father and his own sisters look like a typical Italian or light Hispanic (one of them dyes her hair blonde and even looks natural in it) but they are very proud of being ILOCANO and speak the dialect well! My aunt even gets angry when she's not seen acknowledged as Pinay! To those who say they are, do you think it's even appropriate to say you are "Filipino with Chinese and Spanish blood" when really, being Filipino in itself is being a mix of different bloodlines anyway?

Hey I'm a Lumbee Indian from pembroke n.c. and sometimes when i go out of town and people realize that i'm indian i get looked at like i'm a freak i kinda think that it's because our native people have not been fully recognized. If you were to adopt a child, would you adopt a child of your own race/ethnicity or a child with a different race/ethnicity. Lots of people are adopting from China or South America right now, but I'm really wondering about white people adopting African-American children from the U.S. Also, I'm asking African-Americans if they would adopt white children. my cousin from west side that little valley boy beach punk californian. he's been telling me that the mexican people are taking back california, which what was once their sacrid land, by breeding like rabbits, and over populating. he says the more of them, the more votes they will get. i hear about the situation, and i'm sorry for that man. this is america land, not mexico. i'm from north carolina so we don't get too much of them here. but you californians, what do you think about the situation? is it an epidemic as my cuz is been telling me.

I saw a mother say this to her daughter at the train station. She was asking the little girl to hold her baby sisters nuk and the daughter dropped it. She said, "why are you so retarded? It's funny that America is the ONLY place that places Hispanic as a race. If you look at the demographics at a Spanish-speaking country you will see them say white xx%, black xx%, mulatto/mixed xx%, asian xx%.
Spanish people conquered Latin America. Spain is in Europe. Ethnic people from Spain are white. British and the French conquered North America. British and French people are white. When whites and indigenous Indians mix, they are called mestizo. When blacks and whites mix, they're mulatto. And so and so forth. So WHY did the government feel the need to add a "race" that's not even a race?"Hispanics" can come in ANY race. Most Dominicans are mulatto, most Mexicans are mestizo, most Argentinians are white. Since when did LANGUAGE denote race? There was a huge article talking about how silly it sounded that "Latinos overtake Blacks as next minority"seeing as there are MANY Afro-Latins that look NO different than African Americans. Hispanic as an ETHNICITY, sure! Race? Get educated

I was out last night & I was sitting next to a black man who is a well respected member of my town & a white guy comes up to him & say "What's up my n"? I was dumbfounded but they happened to be friends so I guess he didn't take offense at it, but after the guy walked away I asked the guy how he was ok with someone calling him that ( I was brought up being told that that word was as bad as the f word) but he said that I shouldn't take that word so seriously. Then my friend showed up & I feel very comfortable with him so I asked him & he said that there's a big difference between the word n***a and the word n***er. He also said that if I called him that he would not insulted. I was kind of surprised but I assured him that he'd never hear that word coming from my lips. Do the majority of black people think that I take that word too seriously or was I raised right?
