Marriage between a Muslim man and a Christian woman is allowed under the Islamic Shari`ah (law). According to the Qur'an (Surah Al-Maaidah 5: 5), a [chaste] Muslim man can marry a chaste Muslim woman or a chaste woman from amongst the people of the Book. This obviously implies that you can marry a Muslim man without converting to Islam.

I myself am a Catholic who is married to a Muslim. We have been together for over 7 years and have two children. While there are differences in what we believe, we have not had any major disagreements. It can be done, but the lines of communication must stay open wider and you must communicate more.

Let's put it this way, if you're a woman and you marry a Muslim, you have to convert to Islam regardless of your spouse's nationality. Very seldom will you find a Muslim who will marry someone without that person converting to his religion.

I would say that you don't HAVE to become anything. You can respect his beliefs without believing them yourself.
