rac·ism
Pronunciation: 'rA-"si-z&m also -"shi-
Function: noun
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2 : racial prejudice or discrimination
Webster's definition does not say anything about majority or minority. Black people can be racists, white people can be racists, American Indians can be racists, Jews can be racists, even midgets can be racists.
Did you see the recent episode of trading spouses where the "God Warrior" was on for a second time? The black guy they put her with was a TOTAL racist. Every word he said was about how evil the white man was, and how he kept the black man down. Listen to Bill Cosby--he points out how black people keep themselves down.
Many black people believe that racism won't end until white people acknowledge that it exists. It won't end until black people acknowledge it, too.
Grow up. Get a life. Get over it.

Racism has nothing to do with numbers. Racism can't only be for a certain color of people. Look up the word. It doesn't say "a majority that hates minority". It says "hatred or intolerance of another race or other races." So if your not a freaking alien from outta space, your capable of being a racist.

I have a CD-Rom version of the Random House Webster's Dictionary.
I cut-and-pasted the article about racist:
rac·ism (r!Æsiz Ãm), n.
1.a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
2.a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3.hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.
[1865–70; < F racisme. See RACE2, -ISM]
—racÆist, n., adj.
Therefore the word Racist can refer to a single person who believes that his or her race is better than another. It has nothing to do with bing a minority or a majority.
Why couldn't there exist a small sect of people, (aka, a minority of) who see themselves as the Ultimate Master Race, and they are not caucasian? Couldn't a minority of Brown Skined people of a paticular reglious sect see themselvs as the best race and be willing to kill or bomb those who differed from them? This would make that small sect a group of racists, wouldn't it?

then you do not understand what RACIST means.
Racisim is hating someone based on their race alone. Anyone can be racist.
In general only the Majority can Persecute the minority. but it has happened where the Minority was the Persecutor (due to a stronger military force).

That's not true. Anybody can be racist majority or not. It's the attitude inside a person towards another that determines racism whether or not it's acted out or not and whether it is acted out in large numbers from whoever it emanates from.
Numbers has nothing to do with being guilty of racism except to decide which racism is feared the most. It simply means you think you are better than someone else and deserve special treatment based upon your color. I think we've seen reverse racism through Indians and blacks recieving special treatment simply because of their race and because of the sins of many generations past. We are all melted into this great America by now and that's fair enough I think. I am part Indian myself but there's something wrong with the taxpayers paying for free health care to a man who makes really good money and for a young man capable of putting himself through college. (One is my ex, the other is my nephew before anyone starts screaming!) It is also racist to give taxpayer money to provide for illegal aliens (i.e. Mexicans) to have babies here, free health care, free schooling, free lunches, to be on welfare, etc. I guess being poor white unhealthy divorced and childless doesn't rate the same as being black or Indian with children out of wedlock and health issues covered by Medicaid. I'm for equality all right but something is terribly wrong with this picture. Plenty of blacks and Indians make their own way in this free enterprise system. So what's the deal? Most of us have mixed blood anyway. I think it's time we realize we are all truly created equal. God loves us all equal but I'm afraid the politicians don't!

"I always try to distinguish between individual racism and institutional racism.
Anyone can be an individual racist if they believe in the inherent inferiority/superiority of one race over another, or if they advocate basing the treatment of others on their race.
When many people claim "blacks ca't be racist," they are presumably referring to institutional racism. But I claim that all racism is not institutional, and for that reason they can be racist. They may lack the ability to oppress whites based on that racism, but in a few people it is there, and those people wouldn't hesitate to do so if given the opportunity. "

a racist is simply one that applies negative stereotypes to one that is different. A black person can be racist if they use negativity towards people other than blacks. It has nothing to do with being a majority or minority.

This is bull honey..First and foremost..we are human beings...We are humans first....before a color...Anyone and I mean anyone can have hate in their heart...Any race...and this is coming from a black woman...I have seen black on black racism when I hear black people say the n word..on BET...on the radio..That is black on black racism...When one of my black people use a stereotypical word to another race "thats racism"....Latinos too......Its not about numbers...Majority of the time that the government is reading a number..they are dead wrong....I never call myself a minority because there are so many people of color in the United States of America....and I don't call myself a majority either..because no human being is greater than another....I get tired of those useless names...
