Although his language was inapropriate, especially for a seasoned performer, I don't think it is dignified for the two audience members to profit from the race card so blatantly. The discpicible lawyer representing them is beyond belief. It's nothing more than cashing in on a winning lottery ticket and disrespecting real racism.

As children 50yrs ago we were brainwashed by Hollywood to think of them as Savages who had to be wiped off the face of the Earth.
Cowboy and Indian Films showing them being massacred by Whites with high powered rifles were very popular. But during childish 'Hurrah/Boo' chase sequences I used to get into hot water with the crowd, when I cheered the Indians.........

I am white, but have always been very fascinated with African American culture, so much to the point that I am thinking about getting my college major in African American studies. I just wanted to know if that is way out of the "Norm", or if it would be acceptable for me to do.

Michael Richards has agreed to meet with that scum-sucking, bottom-feeding shyster lawyer Gloria Allred and the three "devestated" men who heard the word n i gg e r spoken in public to apologyze and undoubtedly offer them money to help them "get over" their shattered condition. What a load of balony! Does this mean that EVERY time a black person hears "ni gg e r" they are going to be demanding to receive free money? Are blacks really that fragile and emotionally unstable? Firefighter Tennie Pierce ate dog food in a fire department prank and he wants money, three hecklers heard the word n i gg e r and they are demanding money. Am I the last sane man in America that sees this for what it is? At what point will we have to start paying blacks for other words that devestate them also? Will words like "employed," "tax paying," "responsible father," and "graduate" soon be added to the list? Isn't this another form of welfare that some (not all) blacks have discovered?

Many other non-american cultures allow men to hug each other (even kiss each other on the cheek - like Italians) without the gay labeling. However some of those cultures are very oppressive to women (like Pakistan). Our society is no longer oppressive to women - in a broad sense. There are some West African cultures where it is normal for men to use sewing machines to make clothes (and are not gay), Brazilian culture allows men to freely express themselves during the Carnival festival without being thought of as gay, and of course Irish men wear 'kilts' (or skirts) and are not labeled as gay. Is it possible for American culture to loosen some cultural restrictions on men? It may help to bring women and men to a better understanding about each other.

Serious answers please. I just want to know if it's something instilled in you since birth, something you picked up from your friends, something you decided as an adult... what is it that makes you feel superior to other races? What have white people done that blacks, Asians, Hispanics, and other minorities haven't done... other than murder and torture millions of people (such as Hitler, George W. and other American presidents), enslave others, force others from their own land, and spread diseases?
Minorities have contributed things to the betterment of the world just as whites have. And why hate Blacks? We were fine in our own land. We had our own language, society, culture-- then you bring us here, force us to speak you language and assimilate, then you tell us "Go back to your country!" You brought us here so why is it a problem that we are still here? You created the hiearchy of color to separate us, and now wonder why we fight amongst each other? Please explain your logic

Just for a discussion...
A co-worker and I were having a conversation one day. He stated once he have children, he does not want to them to talk like southerner people (He's from New York). He stated the he does not like the southern twine and would like for his children to have a northern accent. Me being the southern girl I am , I asked him why did he move down south and if our "southern twine" is so bad, why don't you move back to N.Y. He had all types of reasons but pretty much danced around the question. My question is, why are some people from northern states so quick to relocate to the south and then sit and criticize everything about the south (from the people, to the weather, the stores etc.)? Why be in a place where in this guy's case does not want his future children to have southern roots but yet he does not want to live up north again and even talks about loving the south better? Seems like contradiction to me. What do you think?

Why can't blacks take care of themselves instead of always wanting to suck of the white man's breast? They complian that they were not taken care of. Obviously self reliance is an alien meaning to them.

I'm trying to find information about my ancestories. I feel like I'm hitting a brick wall. Two years ago I reunited with my mother for answers about my family history.
