Although his language was inapropriate, especially for a seasoned performer, I don't think it is dignified for the two audience members to profit from the race card so blatantly. The discpicible lawyer representing them is beyond belief. It's nothing more than cashing in on a winning lottery ticket and disrespecting real racism.

Yaaay I get to answer another of your questions!

Quite frankly, I dunno.... I mean they couldn't even give a good reason as to WHY they were suing in the first place. They could've at least said something like "oh he's talking about how rich he is, so we're trying to hurt him like he hurt us" though he didn't snatch millions from them, he emotionally upset them to the point of "fear" Now as an African American, I thought using the N word was a little much, but being a little more mature than most "racist" crap, I just ignored it. They should have too. For one, it doesn't really help because now all of the world is seeing them on tv saying "they were afraid for their safety and of being arrested" and not giving any true meat to why they really want to sue. Which makes them look greedy...which only fuels some racist thoughts about black men. If they really wanted to make a change, all they had to do was request their money back from the show, and possibly, if it HAD to go any further, request a personal apology for him verbally attacking them. If I say something that offends ANYONE, I apologize if it was not my intent, especially if I was just angry and venting. Freedom of speech is just that. We can't pick and choose what is acceptable to say and put a stamp on it and say "OK! You can have free speech IF you use these words!! These other words are definitely forbidden." That isn't freedom of speech. So what we( people as a whole, NOT just black people) can do is ignore what "offends" us or just be above it so that it DOESN'T have any weight to offend us. Not only does it make us stronger, but it shows that we have class. Am I ranting? Crap, I'm ranting.....Damn those public speaking seminars!!! IN SUMMARY, we all have bad nights, but when I call my husband an ****** for leaving the toilet seat up and me falling in when I'm in a hurry to go tinkle and the lights are off..... it is only in the heat of passion and therefore, should not be taken to heart and cause him to sue me for hurting his feelings. If we continue to let the N word or the C word or the LMNOP word cause us sooooo much distress, then we'll never be able to rise above it. If we all want to move on, we need to move on. Name calling shouldn't have such a horrible toll on anyone. Why? Because it's just name calling. When you got called a dumb dumb stupie head on the playground all those years ago, yeah, it stung, but hey...hopefully that doesn't affect you 20 yrs down the road right? Ok I'm not ranting anymore lol sorry. I just love everyone :)

"...winning lottery ticket...". When it comes to blatant racism displayed by Mr. Richard, there are no winners.

"It's nothing more......than disrespecting real racism". At least you admit that Mr. Richards actions were really racist. How does one respect real racism? Is it worthy of respect?

Should real racist acts, like those suffered by Emmet Till be respected. Did Emmit Till act in a respectable manner when he was visciously killed behind real racist beliefs?

Did Rodney King respect his racist tormentors? Did Mark Furman and his cohorts respect Rodney King?

The US Gov't has profited from racism, sexism, classism, genocide, homicide, etc. for almost 2 centuries. Once they stop profiting from innocent peoples pain and suffering, than no one will have go to court to be respected. Until that happens, seek justice and restitution by any means necessary.

Pass the peace pipe on the left hand side...and don't mess up the rotation!!

People sue for the stupidest things anymore and they win. The courts have become so lenient to idiotic suits it is laughable.

I have no respect for adults that seek money by screaming racism, mental distress or any of that other STUPID crap.
The financial lawsuits should be limited to true HURTFUL acts, physically.

Has anybody asked these guys if they have ever been called names before? Did they sue? Oh, Hell no! Whoever called them the same name did not have any money so they either ignored it or beat the crap out of "said" person and forgot it.

The REAL PERSONAL PAIN is caused by kid to kid contact in school!
Idiots that make fun of other students and mark them for other attacks. Financial, racial, religion all of that is so abused by bullies in school I say we start suing the Parents of the kids that make fun of another kid!!! We Could Make Millions!!!!!

Are they suing him? The U.S. is one of the most litigious countries in the world. It's sad. I don't think they need money from that. Maybe just a refund on their tickets. IF it were some unknown comic I doubt they'd sue. Money hungry people.. what a shame. And no Michael Richards should not have said what he did.

What happened to free speech? They get away with disrupting a gathering...why shouldn't the two guys pay the rest of the audience? If they do win a lawsuit, I'd like to see every record, cd or movie that uses the term "n-i-g-g-e-r" taken off the shelf, never to be sold. Fair is fair, right?

I'd say yes and no- yes its wrong for them to profit off of something so horrible. but he should pay. I think he should donate money to charity- court appointed or by the victims.
if people didn't have to pay money after they slandered someone they'd never stop, and I don't think we should put people in jail for just saying things. money is a good punishment.

I dislike what he did; what HE said was "despicable." But, when I heard they were planning to sue.. I thought that was taking it a bit too far. If I was them, I would have more pride than to go after his money because money doesn't take away the words that he said and it never will.

I think the two hecklers and the actor should be shackled together and put on community service for ten days picking up trash on a lonesome highway somewhere.
