One little known fact is that during the late 1800's into the mid 20th century America, over 600 Mexicans were lynched throughout the south. Over 3000 African Americans were lynched during the same time period however, when considering the over all numbers of Mexicans in the U.S. compared with the number of African Americans during this time period, the numbers are equal. During this time period, the Mexican population in the U.S. was pretty small while the number of African Americans was significantly larger than that of Mexicans, hence the number of African Americans lynched was also greater. A student of Harvard researched and wrote a paper called; " Law of the noose: A history of Latino lynchings" this hidden, unknown history can be found at http://harvardcrcl.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/297-312.pdf... My guess is that white America hated the idea that Mexicans were granted citizenship in the U.S. mid 1800's, just after the signing of the Guadalupe/Hidalgo treaty.... Mexico signed the treaty which allowed the U.S. to take possession of Ca. Tx. Co. and New Mexico under the conditions that the remaining "Mexicans" in those states be allowed to keep their land and remain as citizens. This was difficult for the U.S. gov. to accept because the U.S. constitution of that time said that only citizens of the U.S. could legally own land and only "white" people could be legal citizens of the U.S. In order for the remaining Mexicans of those states to be allowed to keep their land and be granted citizenship, the U.S. declared that Mexicans were legally "OTHER WHITE"... This didn't set well with non governmental U.S. white people who said "These people aren't white!!!!" hence the lynching of over 600 Mexicans across the southwest.....

Didn't you do this already? And haven't you learned the mechanics of capitalization yet?
If you really must know, Italian-Americans were only really "accepted" in to "whiteness" following the white flight that brought all manner of European Americans into the suburbs after WWII. This broke up the inner-city's ethnic concentrations and allowed all kinds of Europeans to interact as part of a suburban white collective.
As for being told to hate whitey... Please. They were ticked off for a long time, ever since their civil liberties were constatly abridged and violated.

The Chinese, Jews, Japanese, Italians, Irish, Germans, every one was discriminated enormously.
But the blacks and Hispanic would rather get free money from the gov and blame white America for there own problems. Many of them are lazy and arrogant, making them there own worst enemy.
Every one else in America including a lot of Italians proved there patriotism by learning English, working hard and having pride and values. People have evolved their thoughts to learn hard work and values can bring everything. I cant say the same for the blacks and other minorities who still after years don't learn that.
I'm completely with you.
