ok there are black college funds and scholarships. Thats kool i mean there are such things for everyrace and ethincity. but recently there was an all white scholarship introduced and people areaying the irs racist explain this please, becuase it just seems hypcritical

I agree with you totally. I think people should be awarded on the basis of their merit, not skin colour. I know that people will argue with me, and say that because of the cruelties of the past, this should be done. But what about the cruelties to the Jews in the Holocaust? Should they be given special treatment? Or the cruelties to the Japanese during the World Wars? We could go on and on, throughout history. The best way to learn from our mistakes is to never repeat them. We can never make up for those cruelties of the past--they are too terrible.

On the surface, it does seem hypocritical that scholarships for one race are acceptable, while scholarships for another race are not.
However, you need to look at the reality of the whole society - most white people traditionally have far more opportuntities to help them get into college than do black people or other racial minorities. The entire educational and economic system subtly and unintentionally favors white students, and black students are left with fewer choices and opportunities.
Scholarships and affirmative action programs are designed to even out this gap.. not to "prefer" black people over white, but to give everyone a fair chance.

I laugh everytime this stupid question is posted everything is geared toward you all except the few things for minorities, that were most likely started mind you because you all did not want to include us in the first place stop whining white people still have the advantage in this country!

The funny part is that even with the govenrmnet giving them all these incentives they STILL can't handle college...
(Can't say the same for other minorities like Orientals who interestingly enough are now almost treated as badly as whites when it comes to scholarships, etc.)

because alot of times its hard for african americans to get scholarships to go to a good college. most of us dont come from money. alot of us dont have rich parents that give us trust funds and things like that. i dont think its racist at all. alot of white people have alot more opportunity to get ahead in the past and present society.
