I am aware that there are people of african descent in various european countries such as Great Britain, Spain, and Germany and many if not the vast majority have been there for decades if not centuries. I can't seem to find information about black people in Sweden or Scandinavia for that matter. I was wondering if there are black people in Scandinavia (particularly Sweden) and have they been there for centuries. I'm aware that Denmark used to own the Virgin Islands and had slaves transported there so one would think that there have been africans in Denmark for centuries. All help is greatly appreciated. Oh, I almost forgot, it is to my understanding that black people are treated well in Scandinavia and I wanted to know if this was true.

I am just wondering.
I heard in some areas of the world, you can have them legally.

Do you wish you had one?

Ok, so the thing is I had a job interview yesterday. I have been forewarned (3 different people) that this boss is rather "pro semite", meaning she prefers to hire Jewish people (even though the job has nothing to do w/ being Jewish).

Sure enough, during my interview, she asked me if I celebrated Hannukah (in August?) and I told her "yes, I did last year."
(which is true, because my boyfriend is Jewish, and we did. Also, if we get married, I will have to convert.)
Secondly, when she saw which college I went to, she said "oh, XXX, what a great school and so many great Jewish programs" to which I responded "Yes, I love XXXXXXX (the school)."

I also sort of hid my cross under my shirt. (I don't wear it every day and I am not very religious but I thought I might as well hedge my bets right?)

so I would like to know: do you think she believed I was Jewish? I am going to hear from her next week & I really need this job. Thanks!

I just want to know, and maybe make you think...whether you're the one forming the stereotype in your mind, or being an example...

just remember a stereotype is just a stereotype...it's not true for EVERYONE....

but please be HONEST...

In america history, the italians and all of them slowly began being accepted as "white". Is the same happening to hispanics/latins?

There was a wiki article about it but it got deleted or something.

It makes no sense to me. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't understand the other half of the USA hating a group of people who preach love. Why start fights with people who work for peace? Why the desire to kill a group of people who believe in non-violence?
Are people just being deliberately contrary to be irritating, or is there a purpose?

They are both minorities....asains came to this country with next to nothing..so they start out poor. Is it easier for an Asain to climb the financial ladder than a black?....not a racist or hate question. If there is racism..don't the asians experince that to the same degree..or is it believed that the system is more racist against blacks?..

I think every race should be open to other races. My family doesn't agree with me, so we've had some conflict. I've dated a few African-American guys, and now I'm dating an Indian. I have my own opinions, but I want to hear some more.

Are beautiful, first of all, but, my question is: if you're black/white, how would you decide what race you'd chose to be known as? What I mean is:
whatever benefits you to get better jobs, etc,or to be able to go into any small town without feeling like everyone is looking at you?(this is the racist small town I live in, my bf is Korean and they look at him like he's got 2 heads sometimes)
Or the awesome culture of the Afroamerican race?
Don't say, race doesn't matter and all that bs..
It's just a hypothetical question for fun.

i wear jeans and a black metallica hoodie that has a bit of colour on it and i'm still called a hippie goth or emo
and emo is a person (i wouldn't even know the person)who listens to emotional rock and i don't mind people saying that because i do but these people have another definition for emo :someone who slits there wrists and they contradict themselves when they say I'm a hippie goth cause goths wear all black and hippies wear colourful clothes i hear the word emo so much it is nearly as normal for me to say as the word "the".It's getting really annoying cause they can't say it to your face they just mumble it or cough it.p.s i don't think i should have to change who i am because some people don't like individuality.
