I am aware that there are people of african descent in various european countries such as Great Britain, Spain, and Germany and many if not the vast majority have been there for decades if not centuries. I can't seem to find information about black people in Sweden or Scandinavia for that matter. I was wondering if there are black people in Scandinavia (particularly Sweden) and have they been there for centuries. I'm aware that Denmark used to own the Virgin Islands and had slaves transported there so one would think that there have been africans in Denmark for centuries. All help is greatly appreciated. Oh, I almost forgot, it is to my understanding that black people are treated well in Scandinavia and I wanted to know if this was true.

I also wanted to know if anyone can tell me some famous black scandinavians who can trace their ancestry to the slave trade. I'm pretty sure there are some black families who can trace their ancestry to the slave trade even though many of the black people are immigrants.

There are black people everywhere. Including every part of Europe. They just aren't prevelant, and many may be coming and going without becoming citizens.

There is only like 100,000 blacks in Sweden and the population of Sweden is almost 10 million. Some people are saying Sweden is becoming very Muslim but only 5% of the country is Muslim.

There are no black holes in Sweden. Trust me. I would know. I live there... Maybe you are referring to the LHC in Switzerland. It is theoretically possible for black holes to form in it but they would be the same mass as the particles they formed from. And black holes that size would evaporate in an instant so there is no danger.

There are plenty of black people in Scandinavia, but few are can trace their heritage back to slave trade. Most are refugees from for instance Somalia.

There are some serious issues and difficulties, although it's not the violent racism you see in other places. It is difficult for anyone who doesn't speak Swedish well to get a job or live here (I should know, I am an immigrant). As you might expect, refugees who have come from a war torn country, possibly having left unwillingly, tend to hang together and this leads to ghettoisation, a kind of self-imposed isolation and lack of integration into what is a completely alien society. They also tend to have difficulty learning the language, because they aren't exposed to it enough (the swedish government provides ongoing free language education for immigrants, but it's a tough language to learn anyway)

All this is more an artefact of being refugees than being black however, and the same problems occur with the equally large number of refugees from places like Bosnia, Albania, and Kosovo, all of whom are plenty white.

To round that up: Yes, there is racism here, I don't know a place on the planet there isn't, in some direction or another. It's a more generalised "we want you to be more Swedish. You're not enough like us" than "you aren't as good as us" though. I've been plenty of places where it's a lot worse, and I felt much more of the latter than the former.

BTW, you are correct, Denmark did formerly own the US Virgin Islands, they used to be called the Danish Antilles. Britain occupied them during the napoleonic wars, but they were returned, until Denmark sold them to the US in 1917.

For what it's also worth, I am not black, I am polynesian, but I've never felt unsafe walking around Stockholm, on my own at night (yes, I'm a woman). I have been flat out told not to do that in Copenhagen, for my own safety (by a Danish taxi driver, who tried to talk me out of getting out where I'd asked to, no less) It's hard to say if that isolated experience is universal, probably it isn't, but it is worth remembering that "Scandinavia" is a geographical area, not really a cultural one. Sweden and Denmark are actually very different.

no, it is impossible to make a black hole on earth. you need a star bigger than the sun. it will never happened. why would Stephens Hawking like to take over the world? and Stephens Hawking would die too if she made a black hole to take over the world because the earth will get sucked in

Sadly it not true that black people are treated well in Scandinavia. There alot of racism in Sweden and Denmark. These countries are not use to foreign people living there. Most Africans living in Scandinavian countries are mostly refugees. Fleeing their own countries. Denmark has never occupy Virgin Island the British did. Seem to me you got a lot of fact wrong here

Not many of them there so they have probably not given the
whites much reason to treat them badly...
