Personally I believe that the greatest obstacle to acceptance is ignorance. People fear what they do not understand, and as we have seen countless times throughout history, fear breeds hatred.
By dispelling ignorance and teaching others the truth about homosexuality, I truly believe that we can become fully accepted within society.
Knowledge is the greatest tool we can weld, and by sharing that knowledge, we make ourselves more understood.
What do you think is the best way to become accepted?

Well I have a mentee and me and her are very close.....she is like my daughter. We are always kissing each other on the cheek, never on the lips. But at the same time I get these feelings like I want to kiss her fo'real, ya know. I am not gay but at the same time these feelings confuse me and I refuse to cross that line because I am a Christian and I know that this is not somethign God would be pleased with. And I pray every night for the feelings to go away but at the same time I like the way it feels sometimes. I have a boyfriend as well but I would prefer to be around her. She is the same way, not sure if she feels the same way but we talk to each other every minute of the day literally, and when we are separated she feel like she is having seperation anxiety. I need help because I dont want to be gay. Nothing against gays or lesbians but just not something I want to risk going to heaven for.

Someone in my family, although enrolled in what appears to be HMO_at least as far as I know it is what could be considered a complete medical plan_as well as having Medicare, does not have enough money for the co-payments, which appear to be incrementing now, as well as suddenly having to pay almost three times more for Albuterol pump cans than she was five or six months ago.

At some point years back she did have Medicaid. Years went by and she re-aplied. And apparently through negligence from social worker, was kept waiting for six whole months, and there was such a confusion as to whether she qualified or not. In the meantime then she spent hundreds of dollars, apparently unecessarily, simply because she had not wanted to buy the generic brands. Today she's in great need, and although monthly government income is pretty low and only supplements her husband's low Social Security payments which it's around 650 dollars or less, it's even extremely hard to qualify her for foodstamps.

I am a girl, and i am not girly, i was always a tom boy since i was young, and now i dress nicely but i still act really guyish. And i know this sounds weird, but whenever people refer to me as 'she' it kind of catches me off guard. Its as if i see myself as a boy. Like when i am around a real girly girl i feel the need to act 'gentlemenly'. But at the same rate i like boys. And when i am attracted to girls i feel like i am a guy like them. But i like boys more. Why do i thnk like this? And then somedays i feel like a girl, like i like purses and shoes, but a lot of the time its me liking cars and sports, i even sit with my knees wide apart. I feel like i am both a guy and a girl, but mostly a guy with personality and mostly a girl sexually. I got tested for testosterone and i was normal. Why do i think like this?

Being a senior, I have not had to confront this issue, but I want to offer condolences to anyone who has.
My question is, do you agree that it is the most devastating loss one could have?

Some of us have experienced a broken marriage, some of us have lost a spouse to death.
Do you, as seniors, feel that a loss due to divorce (that you did not want) can be as devastating as a death of a spouse?

Example: Jane Doe's husband finds another love and divorces her. She is devastated because it is truly a death of a marriage to her but very hard because this person is still alive and it hurts a lot.
Example 2: Jane Doe's husband dies and she receives sympathy cards, and her friends rally around her with love and encouragement.
Point I am trying to make: Do you consider one more devastating than the other? If so, please express your opinions. I hope I worded this correctly. Any loss is sad but...how do you feel?

This is placed in the Senior Citizens section because we have lived longer and are more aware of the impact both of these have.

on, not only that I looked at the duck pond and the ducks had on wolly jumpers with hats to match. I mean would that not give you a shock or a laugh which one would it be.

I don't mean the normal short form for a sister. I have read it in this page (lesbian, etc.) very often. Does it mean something special? In German you can say also "she is a sister/ Sie ist eine Schwester" Is it a usual word in the scene?

I am talking about the 80+ or over drivers who just won't give up their keys. Yesterday, my parked car was hit by an 85 yr old man. He was trying to parallel park and obviously misjudged the distance he had and slammed right into the entire side of my car causing damage.

After he hit my car he realized he couldn't squeeze into the spot so pulled off and drove down the street. I witnessed the whole thing. He got out of his car and started to go into his house. He had no intention of owning up to what he just did. I told him I had called the cops and he seemed totally shocked that I would do this! Needless to say I filed my claim against his insurance.

Don't you think elderly people shouldn't be allowed on the road? Had I been standing by my car he would have plowed right into me!
