I don't understand something, and maybe you can help.

I used to work in retail doing returns and exchanges in a department store. We had policies in place that kept people from bringing back items they had either damaged or would cost the store too much money to take back. I enforced these policies with EVERYONE. It didn't matter who they were. Some customers were black, and some of those (not all, but some) would throw out the line "It's because I'm black," and then proceed to indirectly call me racist, to which management would pretty much cave in and give them what they wanted and basically agree with them.

I find this very insulting and a little confusing. How is it that I can treat blacks the same way I treat everyone else and be a racist, yet some of them can look at me and assume that I'm a biggot because of my skin color, and yet I'm still the one who is wrong? I know that there are whites who are racist, but why do some think they have the right to assume I am one?

For some reason the word just bothers me, especially when people put the whole gay community under that unbrella. I've always associated the word queer with strange, abnormal or odd. What are your opinions on this? I'm curious.

I'm all for equal rights among different races, but I don't see why society feels that in order to do that, white people have to be hated on. Just about every black stand-up comedian will make fun of white people through the entire performance...and we're all supposed to laugh and say "Yep, we sure are lame." But if a white guy ever got up on stage and said "Have you ever noticed how black people always..." and before he'd finish his sentence he'd be booed off stage. Or why is it ok in black television shows for them to portray all whites as being racist, nerdy, or just stupid? Even in children's movies like Sharktale...the fish voiced by Will Smith says..."It's ok, a lot of white fish can't do it." Is that supposed to be funny? It's incredibly racist and it sends a bad message to kids. Also, whites can be casually referred to as "cracker" or "honkey" and we're not supposed to be offended.

Why is this? Why are we supposed to tolerate this?

This close friend ' X 'of mine who im sure is gay but he has never confessed and he has grown an emotional bonding with another of my friend 'Y' .'X' always tries to dominte him .He takes care of his financial needs and wants him to always listen to him.He gets angry when 'y' doesnt listen to him and then goes into depression.Once after a fight with 'Y' he took four crocins in two days and threw his mobile phone and did not talk to anybody except me.everytime they fight 'x' calls me up and cries infront of me and this turns my mood off.'Y' told me that once 'x' had tried to lure him into having sex with him but he had declined.I told 'y' that he needs to tell 'x' straight away that he is not gay but he doesnt listen.
So i see this as like 'x' trying to bring 'y' closer to him (make him gay) by giving him money.'y' trying to just use 'x' .recently 'x' bought a laptop so that 'y' cud play fifa.both are close friends of mine and i dont want their life to be spoiled .what shud i do?

okay so I went to Jamaica back in 1997 to visit my fam ,and i saw the strangest thing, see the black women (like bob marley's mother) of jamaica who live near docks where foreign ships come in tend to give their bodies to foreign (white) men in trade for goods so theres like villages if you will of black DAAAAAAAARskined black women with these mixed babies, anyway i remember even though its been 10 yrs, seeing this dark black woman with three kids, and ALL of them were fair skinned with blonde hair and i was 8 yrs old and to me that was unheard of i new it could happen if the mom was white but black women too? im still convince these babies were switched in the hospital or something lol. so my question is have any of you seen this before? i dont date white men but golly. thats interesting to see. also what are some of the strangest mixes you've seen?

My sister, who I hadn't seen for over 20 years came to stay with me from Aussie for christmas 2001. It was fantastic to get together after all those years and meet her children at last.
While she was here she suggested we invest in a pc to keep in touch with all of them. It used to take weeks to recieve her mail. So out came the trusty credit card, and she did her best to teach me to email. Thank goodness the credit card was soon paid off! lol
Anyway, we now mail almost daily and I am watching her girls web pages as they grow into young ladies.
So my question is. How long have you had a computer and what prompted you to buy it in the first place?

Who made them the deciders. I often hear things like: "Beyonce isn't Black," Why? because she is caramel (not even all that light). But Beyonce says she is Black. Black people say she is Black. what else is there?

There are alot of questions about blacks & blacks committing crime. White ppl as usual feel like black ppl are trying to blame whitey and slavery.

In my opinion it's the persons fault for committing the crime, but collectively, whitey also has an unseen hand in inprisoning black ppl & I'm not understanding how they don't see that. What do you think?

I live in Australia and am very confused about the word n****r used in American culture. In Australia aboriginals more commonly call each other cuz- like cousin. I watched an episode of Oprah where she asked some black actors and a rap star why they used the word and they said it was a loving word. I agree with Oprah when she said there is too much hatred and history attatched to the word for it to ever be attatched to love. If it shows love from one black person to another, and yet for some reason some black people dont like it when "some" white people say it, I do not understand how a word can mean so much love and be so offensive????? Why not just erase it all together???
