why do mexicans hate Spaniards so much?

My family is from Spain, but I was born in the United States. Anyways, why some latin people hate Spaniards so much? What have we done to them?
I just don't understand

your ancestors.... conquered people very violently

It's kind of like some Black people who are mad at whites in America because of slavery. Even though it took place before they were born they're still angry at them. It really makes no sense.
