I'm all for equal rights among different races, but I don't see why society feels that in order to do that, white people have to be hated on. Just about every black stand-up comedian will make fun of white people through the entire performance...and we're all supposed to laugh and say "Yep, we sure are lame." But if a white guy ever got up on stage and said "Have you ever noticed how black people always..." and before he'd finish his sentence he'd be booed off stage. Or why is it ok in black television shows for them to portray all whites as being racist, nerdy, or just stupid? Even in children's movies like Sharktale...the fish voiced by Will Smith says..."It's ok, a lot of white fish can't do it." Is that supposed to be funny? It's incredibly racist and it sends a bad message to kids. Also, whites can be casually referred to as "cracker" or "honkey" and we're not supposed to be offended.

Why is this? Why are we supposed to tolerate this?

I could not agree with you more!!! And anytime I bring that up among my friends and family, they just tell me I'm racist! I am not racist at all, I, just like you, want to be treated fairly as well. We are not the ones who did horrible things to minorities in the past, our ancestors did. But it seems that to atone for what our ancestors did, we are the ones who are now being treated poorly.

I don't know why we are expected to tolerate this, and I don't know why more people don't speak up about this issue. I have always lived by the Golden Rule of "Treat others how you would like to be treated", but that doesn't seem to work anymore. I wish this were broadcast into the mainstream, but people would just be aghast over it. I'm just glad that I'm not the only one who sees this!

I totally agree with you Greg! I am not from this country, so maybe I notice this problem even more. I am not racist at all. We are all the same on this world. What happened just happened. Can we do anything to erase the past? No! But I feel like black people think they have the right, because of what happened, to do everything they want.

Good luck trying to get an answer on this one, there are many ignorant people who do not see this as discrimination and feel it is ok because they have a very narrow mind and they are uneducated. Just like black people don't like it when white kids try to act black, I am personally offended by this type of comedy because it sends the wrong message. It is all about how you were raised. We never called any particular group racial slurs and I wouldn't accept it from my kids. We tolerate this because white people come from all different backgrounds, they do not stick together like the black people. Black people have more unity, they refer to each other and brothers and sisters. They can trace their roots back to Africa. White people came from all over and do not stick up for each other.

What you are seeing is not descrimination becuase it is holding you back a job, or housing or anything like that. You seems young so you don't know about comedy for years used black people as the butt of the joke. You are right that people are too sensitive about such things. White people are funny. Its true Y'all do some funny stuff. But my people are as funny.

The solution is for everyone to stop being so sensitive and start enjoying each a lot more.

White people are funny tho....

Here is the deal with Racism. Distance yourself from racists. A person of any color can engage in Racist ideology. Shun those people. Do not argue with them. You can call them out if you feel like it but keep in mind, it is ok to be a racist if that is what you want. Be prepared to face the legal and social consequences or don't be. Since you are not a racist, stop trying to enforce behavior based on race. Believe it or not, despite your intentions you started this off with about five totaly racist sentences.

Try not to generalize. It means you have a weak point and you are trying to convince some one of it. Because there are always exceptions to The Rule, and by the Rule i mean Prejudice, then don't try to make them. to say "if a white person got up and blah blah blah..." Is to make a racist generalization. Intelligent people do not do that. Week people who are at a loss to make sense of an experience, simplify to understand, but the world is not simple. There is much you will never understand. Try to take each person as them self and support or shun them based on what they believe and do.

The more time you spend looking at racism the more racist you become. Move on and remove ignorance, if it means disassociating form people who say things like "black people can say anything they want"

fairly some ethical intense-horses trotting approximately right here, Scoundy - and making a helluva racket as nicely! regardless of the indisputable fact that, for something human beings mere mortals - whose poop regrettably DOES whiff on occasion - the respond is in no way fairly so black and white. Monogamy could be a tall order at the instant, while existence expectancy is a lot greater than it was. in addition to it can not heavily be seen as an fullyyt 'organic' way of existence for this variety of gregarious species as ourselves. the reality that love and intercourse are so in many situations assumed to be one and a similar ingredient does not help make sparkling the undertaking the two. they're related, devoid of doubt, yet no longer unavoidably inseparable. it could be intense-high quality to have the flexibility to assert it truly is for the guy to % what's or isn't proper behaviour interior of their very own existence. regardless of the indisputable fact that the reality that, in this actual occasion, one's judgements on the difficulty will impression a minimum of another guy or woman ability there desire be some order of open, prearranged understanding. yet then, of path, we are actually not speaking approximately "affairs", are we? - that are, by ability of definition, secretive; hidden; and based in deceit . it incredibly is a can of worms, Scoundy - this Q of yours that appeared so straightforward on the outset! incredibly i think of i'm dropping my very own thread right here, and progressively drifting away up my very own decrease back passage. it truly is a superbly at present forward question and consequently merits a normal reaction: No, it does not look from the final consensus that affairs are from now on proper on the instant than in previous situations. they're, regardless of the indisputable fact that, much less stunning in many situations words, and the effects no longer in many situations as intense. I do have faith they're each bit as damaging and hurtful as they ever have been. it truly is the deceit implicit interior the belief of an affair that makes it incorrect. possibly it truly is the belief of monogamous marriage that needs re-reading. Now then, who's for team intercourse?

Discrimination is descrimination, not "reverse descrimination." You are right, however. There is a double standard. As an example, if I use demeaning words to describe black people, such as ****** or *******, they are blocked out by Yahoo! Answers. See? But if I use words that demean white people, such as cracker or honky, they are not. So why can't we just have a totally uncensored forum without worrying about offending one group or another. They need to grow thicker skin, just like the rest of us.

Well I do agree with you even though I support affirmative action. SOME people of other races (not most) bring white people down and get away with it (like that black guy last year on c-span who called for exterminating the "evil white man" and didn't get crap for it.) -- search "reverse racism" on youtube.
There is NO EXCUSE for ANYONE to be racist. Racism of any kind is unacceptable...i've been discriminated against at a mostly black school i went to and it was not fun AT ALL for people to make fun of my skin color.

MLK said one day white and black children will play together...well so far that's not the case. The only way we will get ahead is in a color-less society.

**why did i get thumbs down for my honest answer??**

You're NOT supposed to tolerate this.

The rich and powerful enslaved black people, not 'whites' in general. The rich benefited from slavery, not 'whites' in general. In fact, it was poor whites, both North and South, who lost out from slave labor depressing their wages.

The media (the biggest culprit) tries to deflect honest concern about discrimination in the power structure by offering some oppressed people the 'opportunity' to mistreat other people who are just as badly oppressed.

Why do I say that? Whites outnumber blacks on welfare, food stamps, etc. These are people getting poor quality school systems, healthcare, and community services. These people are getting pushed to the back of the opportunity bus, and these are the people unfairly being targeted for reverse-discrimination hate jokes.

I'm sick of it. Teaching people to hate those outside their pre-defined 'group' so that they don't notice that they're being ripped off helps no one.

I have always thought this. To me one of the best racial comics is Russel Peters. He is very good at keeping it non-offensive but hilarious. To me saying different races are (shocker!) different is no problem. Can't we celebrate our differences? White people have become so scared of being racist that they don;t talk to other races for fear of being called a racist. Because they don't talk to them they are called racist. People just need to talk to each other like human being. I met a wicked black dude the other day and we starting talking about how stupid the whole thing is. I made a crack about him stealing TV's, He made a crack about me having sex with sheep (i am scottish decent) we had a good laugh and that was it. Thats how it should be. People are way to uptight
