If those (gay and straight) who support equal rights and acceptance continue to be heard and press ahead then perhaps we will see change. Keep in mind though, the civil rights movement was a long struggle. This will be also.
Mr Jello has obviously not done his homework. Another problem is next of kin rights. All states do not honor even a living will and in those cases a lifelong partner is left out of the process of fulfilling a dying persons wishes. Of course, with no legally recognized marriages for gay citizens, issues such as benifits and insurance become major ordeals.

Mr Jello - Maybe we can have a marriage ceremony, but we don't get the same rights that come with it as straight people. And while the act of having gay sex or seeking out a gay relationship is an action, just being gay isn't. I don't mean to offend anyone who believes homosexuality or bisexuality is a choice, but why would many people choose to enter into a lifestyle that is so much more difficult and even dangerous than a heterosexual lifestyle? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with my life. I love my girlfriend very much. But if I had been given the choice to be straight or gay, and didn't know how either choice would play out, just that being straight was easier, I'd go with being straight.

I don't like these tit for tat things, but I am a huge proponent of gay rights.
Many people have made LGBT issues about morality instead of simple human rights in a secular society.
There are people, a large number of them by the way, who truly feel those people are going to "send our country to hell".
I am truly a Christian, but I don't feel that discrimination will get me into heaven and I don't have the right to pass judgment on others' lives.
If anyone is going to Hell, the Good Lord will send them, and He doesn't need me to help hurt anybody.

i think its' because they have had to jump through so many hoops about racial discrimination and make so many laws to make thing fair for such a long time now, but now that sexuality is really startin to come out they haven't got the chance to really start enforcin stuff. like you kno the laws they've made, but they haven't really enforced them as well because ppl try to hide.
i wish things were equal for everyone, it's not like bein gay is contagious..........

It takes the community coming together and making ourselves seen.
We have states with civil unions, more than we had 10 years ago, it's getting better, slow and steady wins the race.

Well from what everyone keeps telling me, there's just not enough GLBT people, if you will, to have it considered Racial Discrimination but I think it is racial discrimination.

when we talk about sexuality and discrimination why is it always that it has to be a gay issue, why can't it be an issue that relates to promiscuity that is a choice just as is being gay and but others put people down for it, so why is that not considered the same kind of discrimination

Gays can have wills. Why do you think they can't?
Gay's can marry. Disney will give you a nice ceremony for a fee.
Being gay is an action. Actions aren't something you're born with, their something you do.
>> And with any will, anyone can challenge the will in court. There is no special protection from lawsuits just because you marry. Look at the Terri Schalvo case for example.
It is the individuals responsibility to have a will, living will, and durable power of attorney, and to tell others very clearly what their wishes are in case they can't speak for themselves.

All gays have made a sin to god by being gay. I mean why can't everyone be the same. Everyone would just be straight like God made us.
