In the past I've donated to the Red Cross exclusively, but I want to see if there are any other organizations that spend donations wiser. Please no PETA charities.

I wonder how else I could have contributed to humanity. Was this the right path for me? Did I do the right thing? Or did I goof off too much time away? Should I have built housing for homeless people instead? Or have I helped you people?

My daughters friend is Iraq I do not know him well.(I dont know favorite gum cookies or anything)but weanted to send something can one of the guys who has been over there help me to figure out whats needed most?I know there isnt room to carry things home...????

Well, I don't claim donating is bad. For sure, it's one of good things to do! But there are so many charities asking for donations and once one has subscribed they start asking for more! So, what I'd like to ask you is whether you donate, and in what form.
Some of them really have good causes but are too persistent in asking!

i have very limited resources to work with to create this said charity event, but it really means a lot to me. are there really cheap ways to do this? or do i need to save up a lot of money?

how would you advertise an event like this?

and how would you go about getting sponsors?

and where could i design a sticker?

www.friendships.org -- Friend Ships Unlimited (Park West Children's Fund, Inc.), provides large scale humanitarian and disaster aid and supports ongoing programs that are having an ongoing impact on their communities. A person can volunteer to work with them. They send "mercy ships" to places in need of supplies and as we speak are mounting an effort to send a ship with supplies to the help the people of the earthquake disaster region of Peru. I would like to hear from anyone who has worked with Friend Ships. I am retired, in good health, and giving thought to the possibility of working with them myself.

One of my best friends is in desperate need of a new small home.She has spinal bifida, but is not in a wheel chair yet, but having it handicapped designed would be wonderful.
Her income is limited; was just approved for her Social Security and SSI. She would have land for the house.
Also because she is such a wonderful , kind and caring person,and does so much for others- many of her friends and family and members of the community would be more than willing to put in a lot of sweat equity hours for her.
We are in SE Okla, and I have checked around this county and in this part of state and came up empty so far.
What other orgazinations/foundations can I contact to try to make this happen?
Her housing right now is very sub- standard, but liveable but not worth putting a lot of money in because of shape of floors, roof, walls- it`s an older trailer...Help !!!

we just make fake excuses to cover up our failness, we take the easy way out, instead of teaching teenagers that sex before married is wrong and could get diseases we came up with something like" condems,or brith contorl" its saying ok,you can do it now we got your backs.
instead of fixing gay people mantally we came up with something like "was born gay" its an excuse for them
and the list goes on n on

PLease can anyone help, I start my Social work degree in Sept and have a beefy reading list with over 30 books on it! and unless i take out a loan, i doubt ill be reading many!!

we have a Florida State Lic. for rescue but dont have the funds to actualy do any rescues we did a couple of charity dinners but havent collected nearly anough. they are predicting Dean to be a catagory 4 or higher when it gets into the Guld of Mexico and we would like to act if there is land fall in Florida
