I would like to go on a bike ride on the great allegheny Passage, and the Tidewater Patomac Heritage route. It seems a waste of time to do it without raising some money for somebody. How can I somebody who has never done this type of thing before get people/ companies to contribute to my cause? Any suggestions?

I am doing a hike to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Besides asking friends and family members for money they suggest we also do fundraising events. I am in college and thought I could set up a table to sell something and have the $ go towards that. Since Valentines Day and St. Patrick's Day are coming up I thought it would be a good idea to tie that in some how. Would doing a bake sale actually get money, any ideas?!

I work as what we in Denmark call hjemmehjælper - I drive around to the elders and the weak in my ton and help them bathe, dress, clean their house, do the laundry, grocery shopping, and so on - all the practical things they can't do themselves. I love my job, but what do you think about it? Is it just a pretty word for a maid, or is it meaningfull, in your opinion? Just curious - not gonna change my line of work either way :-)
