Community Service

A few years back, the dept. of education offered a grant to create community technology centers in rural and urban areas to bring technology to underserved communities. They no longer provide the funding, but I am very interested in creating one at my church that will be open to the community. Do you know of any organizations that would support such an endeavor?

ok so for a group project my team has to come up with some kind of giant fundraising event.. the problem is that nothing our team thinks of is being accepted by our professor because it is too "high school"... we have thought of, charity dinner/ dance, food fairs, sports tournaments, nhl old timer games, and many many other things... but nothing seems to be good enough... he says we ned to pretend like we are an actual company doing this.... any ideas or suggestions would be sooo greatly appreciated as i am about to rip my hair out im so frustrated... im completely out of ideas!! help!!

I feel like my son is so out of the loop. He is in wrestling, and will join band in high school. He does volunteer here and there. He is a great student. Any other opportunities out there for him? Any special clubs or opportunities for eighth graders that are not commonly known about? There is nothing at his school.

I have the intention to spend up to 6 months doing volunteer work. I have browsed the Internet and found MondoChallenge. It seems serious but I am looking for somebody who has donethis kind of experience already, and If he/she can give me further details (other associations too, of course) and feedback!!!

OK, so I really want to go to another country, like India or Ethiopia and volunteer, like teaching English or something. But every volunteer group charges ME...and I have no extra money...Peace Corps all but requires a college degree AND a 2 year commitment...which would be nice, except that I don't have a degree and I only want to volunteer for up to a year. Now I knew someone who went to India for a year and taught English in an orphanage...through some charity, but she never told me...This is something I really feel called upon to do...and I was wondering if anyone knew any groups that would pay for ME to go volunteer...not an actual paycheck...just like transportation and housing...?

I'm using three space heaters I have, for the moment.
(They) say I make too much money for a grant. It only looks like I make good money, After federal taxes , etc, I only bring home abt 24,000 a year. After morgage, insurance, car, electric,water, etc I have no extra. I don't have a big house, it is a 25 year old small cheap fox & jacob. I have no equity. I don't waste money on special stuff. One look at my place and you know I don't buy luxurious stuff. My credit sucks. No credit cards. Its only me, no spouse, but no kids either so I don't look helpless or qualify for help that way. HELP! Where do I turn? , and no, I don't attend a church. My health isn't the best, which is why I've put off getting a second job..
I'm in texas by the way in the dallas area if you know of something /someplace local that could help.
Any idea's? Real suggestions please! I don't know where to turn.

My stepfather who is very dear to me is extremely sick. He has a portal vein thrombosis which is very rare considering there is no family history and he is only in his mid 40's. He has been in the hospital since Christmas and is in a medically induced coma. They are finding new problems daily and the bills just keep stacking up. He is the EMS director of AVFD&EMS and people all over the place keep asking how they can help. Well my parents are not going to be able to cover the bills and me at the age of 18 definitely can't do the job. I want to put on a benefit to raise money but I am not sure what the steps are in getting it together. Is there paperwork that needs to be filled out or something if do put it on locally? I need to know as much as possible. Please help me! Anything will help and prayers are greatly appreciated as well
