Tell him you plan to burn American flags for charity and spit on US soldiers, guarantee he will love it.

But seriously, the way a real company raises money is to donate a portion of sales to a cause. Or they raise money from employees/customers and match it. They also put on productions/dinners with, singers, comedians, etc and charge big bucks for a "plate." That also happens to be how politicians raise money.

The United Way of my county had an Amazing Race two years in a row. The first year I was a participant and the second year I was a volunteer. It was a great fundraising event that raised over $40,000 in the two years it ran. There are plans of a third race to happen in June under way right now.
There were 25 teams of 2, and in order to participate, teams were required to raise a minimum of $500. Many of the teams went above and beyond this requirement.
All teams were told to meet at a Swimming complex the morning of the Race, and we were only allowed to have the clothes on our back, the keys to our vehicle and our licences. We raced our way around the county, stopping at various locations to complete different tasks, as they do on the Amazing Race on T.V.
Donations were made by local businesses to cover expenses, and the pit stops were a volunteer basis. All of the proceeds went to the United Way. This is just an idea. Don't know if you need something totally original or not. But anything that is based on a hit reality t.v. show would be great for this project. It's something out of the ordinary and deals with something almost everyone is in on.
Good luck!! Hope you can stop pulling your hair out!

Well, that professor really made things hard on your team.

I would consider a TRIATLON FUNDRAISING. Not a triatlon like game, but taking (at least) three fundraising ideas and combined them to form ONE.

Let's see. A car wash at this time of the year may not be proper depending where you are. So think of indoors activities, Take music, physical activy and intellectual challenge. Mix it. Don't separate singers from intellectuals or physical challengers.

Imagine someone lifting weights, singing the national anthem and responding to history questions at the same time.

This of course is an example. You can choose from an ample variety of ideas and combine them to form something unique.

Best wishes.

Try this, you ask your local animal humain society if they would participate (if you were to actually do this) in a local charity event where all proceeds go to them since animal humaine is a non profit orginisation. This would be an adopt a pet and a kind of fair. You would set up booths with games that the animals and humans can both participate in, and booths for those who don't adopt but go to look. Things like a ring toss, tug of war, etc. Charge maybe $1 a game and adoptions are the society's regular going rate, but the people that bring their own leash or carrier gets like a 10% discount on their adoption. Prizes for the games could include chew toys for the dogs, play toys for cats, and things like books on how to train a dog to stuffed animals.

Silent auctions are a fun thing to do and they usually bring in a lot of money. Get various businesses and people to donate something and people make a secret bid on the things they would like to buy.

The items can be small, such as gift baskets, smaller home appliances, etc etc to bigger items such as vacation packages, cars, etc etc......items could also be unique such as getting to post the weather on the local radio or TV station (I don't know why, but when we did this EVERYONE wanted it, and ended up making about $300...not shabby for 5 minutes in the spotlight) If someone in your class is a really good cook (or if their is a local chef who could volunteer their time) a great prize is a gourmet meal prepared in someones home. Just a couple suggestions to get you started.... Just get a few businesses in on it, and people will start calling you to donate.

The event could take place in conjunction with a dinner buffet, and people can make a fun night of it.

A company I used to work for wanted to raise money for the state Veterans hospital but you can only donate so much company money and use it in taxes as a write off. We also wanted to raise a continuous amount so that it would look more like an income for the hospital. We decided to get a charter with a veterans organization that is non profit and we started a bingo hall. Bingo is a business in its own and is controlled by your states gaming commission. We were able to create a monthly donation of over $10,000.00 a month for the veterans homes and hospitals in our state. How to start one would require research with your state government because it is considered a form of gaming.

Find a local historical charter in your area and see what their needs are. If it is an old building, perhaps you and your "company" could perform a play from the era of the building. This would include getting info on the building and people from that era. Gaining insight into their lives would be a learning experience for all of you. Get the local media involved in your project.

Have an Auction, Go to local shops and get them to donate, merchandise from their store. Then find a place that you can buy baskets, or buckets. and make as many of them that you can. Then have an Auction Starting at $5.00 to 10.00 dollars to start. Write letters to the Mets, the Yankees, and ask if they can donate an Autograph ball, You would be surprised at the donations you can get. Just make sure a thank you letter goes to all who donated.

Take one of the old assignments from The Apprentice. The car wash deal was a good one. If it was good enough for Trump, it ought to be good enough for your prof.
