Any area can be dangerous no matter where you are, but as for my self i have been born and raised in south London, been to all them places and there is nothing wrong with having evening walks with children in them areas.

If you are smart then you wont draw attention to yourself where any bad minded hater will target you for their pleasure, whether it is to mug you, kick the **** out of you, kidnap you or rape you.

Balham is what is classed as an up and coming area, there are lots of new families with double income, basically a middle class area. Elephant and Castle on the other hand is central London, not sure what there is in them ends why you would want to do evening walks with kids but they do have indoor activities for the whole family and it has CCTV with good police response time.

I take it you mean Safe, I don't know anyone who has taken a 'pleasant evening walk' in E&C, though there is a kids playground on the Waterloo Road. Balham has good bars and pubs but can be like anywhere else on a saturday night. Just be vigilant and RUN LIKE HELL if danger threatens.

They're not the best of areas and I try to avoid them in daylight as well, as they are rather tatty. No, I wouldn't recommend an evening walk around there - there's far more pleasant places than those two s***tholes!

I dont think they are the best of areas, why not try a different place for walks and for children.

Fine if you have a body guard with a kalashnikov.
