Consider whatever you believe in; be it religion, horoscopes. psychics, dowsing, or UFOs. Are you sufficiently open minded to consider the possibility that it may not be real? That it all could be a lie?
I ask this because I was called close minded because I said there was no such thing as paranormal activity. ...that all psychics were either deluded or phonies.
So...If I am close minded in saying they don’t exist, isn’t someone else equally as close minded for insisting they do?

Do you think that the apparent 'race problem' that is in the United States is more a part of taking on the broken 'legacy of your people' before you, or actual experiences? I realize that this question is theoretically 50/50, but NOTHING in life is exactly 50/50 so what is your side?

Bible Sales

A minister concluded that his church was getting into serious
financial troubles.

While checking the church storeroom, he discovered several cartons of
new bibles that had never been opened and distributed. So at his
Sunday sermon he asked for three volunteers from the congregation who
would be willing to sell the bibles door-to-door for $10 each to raise
the desperately needed money for the church.

Peter, Paul and Louie all raised their hands to volunteer for the
task. The minister knew that Peter and Paul earned their living as
salesmen and were likely capable of selling some bibles but he had
serious doubts about Louie. Louie was just a little local farmer, who
had always tended to keep to him because he was embarrassed by his
speech impediment. Poor little Louis stuttered very badly. But, not
wanting to discourage poor Louis, the minister decided to let him try
anyway.

He sent the three of them away with the back seat of their cars
stacked with bibles and asked them to meet with him and report the
results of their door-to-door selling efforts the following Sunday.

Anxious to find out how successful they were, the minister immediately
asked Peter, "Well, Peter, how did you make out selling our bibles
last week?"

Proudly handing the reverend an envelope, Peter replied, "using my
sales prowess, I was able to sell 20 bibles, and here's the $200 I
collected on behalf of the church."

"Fine job, Peter!" The minister said, vigorously shaking his hand.
"You are indeed a fine salesman and the Church is indebted to you."
Turning to Paul, he asked "And Paul, how many bibles did you manage to
sell for the church last week?"

Paul, smiling and sticking out his chest, confidently replied, "I am a
professional salesman and was happy to give the church the benefit of
my sales expertise. Last week I sold 28 bibles on behalf of the
church, and here's $280 I collected."

The minister responded, "That's absolutely splendid, Paul. You are
truly a professional salesman and the church is also indebted to you."

Apprehensively, the minister turned too little Louie and said, "And
Louie, did you manage to sell any bibles last week?"

Louie silently offered the minister a large envelope. The reverend
opened it and counted the contents. "What is this?" the minister
exclaimed. "Louie, there's $3200 in here! Are you suggesting that you
sold 320 bibles for the church, door to door, in just one week?

Louie just nodded.

That's impossible!" both Peter and Paul said in unison. "We are
professional salesmen, yet you claim to have sold 10 times as many
bibles as we could."

"Yes, this does seem unlikely," the minister agreed. "I think you'd
better explain how you managed to accomplish this, Louie."

Louie shrugged "I-I-I- re-re-really do-do-don't kn-kn-know f-f-f-for
sh-sh-sh-sure," he stammered.

Impatiently, Peter interrupted. "For crying out loud, Louie, just tell
us what you said to them when they answered the door!"

"A-a-a-all I-I-I s-s-said wa-wa-was," Louis replied, "W-w-w-w-would

1. If volunteering is required in order to make a living/graduate from HS or college aren't we devaluing volunteerism. IOW people will do it to get ahead and not out of altruism.

2.What does this say about organizations that are willing to enforce a policy of indentured servitude instead of employing a qualified person? Are they that desperate to save money?

3.What about those who want to volunteer but are ignored becase the organization has a quota to fufill with said HS, University or other organization.

4. Aren't we slowly killing the American dream since those the only ones who can afford to volunteer or intern for more than one calander year are those whose families can afford to support them for said length of time. IOW we are maintaining the status quo

Today I accidently tapped the bumper of an old, rusty van in front of me in after-church traffic. The reason I didn't get stopped in time was that the vehicle didn't have any brake lights. I immediately called the police so I could get an accident report. Before I could even get off the phone, the people in the van were outside of my car yelling, cursing, threatening me. I told them that I had called in the accident and an officer would be there shortly, which further enraged them. They were screaming about the dent in their bumper, and for no reason, just got back in the van and drove off, before the police even arrived. I got their lisence plate #, and the officer told me to not worry about the van's damage. The scratch on my BMW will cost more to fix than their entire vehicle was worth, so what was the big deal? Why do poor people have to act so completely uncouth?

Paul in response to a question, as opposed to quoting Christ on a scale of 1-10?

Ten would be Paul all the time, and one would be Christ all the time.

I live 2 houses down from a neighbor, who has a driveway and since they have moved in, for the last 4-5 years, she has run a babysitting business and all her clientele turn around in our driveway. I have asked them not to and it got worse. I was sitting in my car today on the cell and she turned around in our driveway while i was sitting in my car.

if she didn't have all her clientele and friends turning around in my driveway, it wouldn't be so bad. but to me..this is just rude.

since the neighborhood is not zoned for business, and she probably isn't paying taxes on this, i don't want to start a lot of problems, but have had enough. what do you think i should do? I have never talked to her directly about it. but should.
