"Understanding" threatens Christianity.
Someone below writes:
"One of my good friends put it best "I think it's O.K that you don't believe in God but it isn't right that you tell your children that". If that doesn't say it all I don't know what does."
I couldn't disagree more strongly. Are you really saying that it's not okay to tell your children that you don't believe in God? What in the world could be the rationale for a statement like that?

Because even though Jesus was alive Jesus was just a man which is what people don't seem to understand Jesus may have been charismatic and a good leader but that doesn't make him anymore than a man so he happened to know a few things about medical treatment so what but then again the bible from which they take this information from was written by men and edited by men picked over and then sanctioned by men how can we know everything in it is true especially when we already know that some of the things in it are false the truth is the reason that they do such things is because it is what they do the spread doubt and then try to pull people in what kind of ultimate good would let a creature of supreme evil live and create a place of eternal torment hell is a myth created to scare people nothing more heaven is an enticement and god is just a figure that people who refuse to accept logic use to explain things that logic can answer simply I mean people once thought that there was a dome built around the world and that holes opened in it when it rained people we eventually realized that logic could answer this with moisture accumulating in the air lightning is energy in the ground reaching out to meat energy forming in the air and thunder is the super heated air along its path things like this are easy enough to explain why not the supposedly miraculous phenomena that they call miracles what is so hard to understand.
done for now
sincerely, god critic Zac

Atheism is the disbelief of gods or God, so what is so hard about that. Sure in ancient times people may have believed in those Gods, but that was ages ago. So I don't know why atheists refer back to Gods, that as far as I know very few people believe in or even mention. Zeus, Odin, Woden, Neptune, etc. are all ancient beliefs.
Now if you are talking about current beliefs such as the Hinduism version of Gods, well I think even they say that all Gods are really just one God. So who is that one God?
So no, I don't have a hard time understanding atheism.

It is very simple my friend Christians do not want to research or understand anyone else's beliefs. That should not be such a shock. When you believe your own faith is right and all others are wrong then why bother with understanding other people's ways of thinking !
Christians have always been this way why should they change now !

I think they understand it but are threatened by it. Most Christians now do not take the Bible literally and with that I think many have a fragile faith. Atheism strikes at the deep fear of the unknown, why are we here and death. It is very hard to accept the simple fact that we are here because of biological reasons and once we die we are gone forever - it hurts our ego. It is all so simple but frightening. I accepted this as a teen but it was not easy. Now I enjoy my life here without the guilt and burden of judgement when I die.

Very different questions there. Those that don't understand atheism probably have experienced God personally, in one way or another. Having had that experience it is very hard for them to accept that other people don't know about God (or wouldn't want to know). So they don't get atheism.
What christians think of other gods is usually more complex, and I think that a lot of christians that have an issue with atheism, do not have as big an issue with other religions.

Christians think they know god and have a personal relationship with him. For a Christian to deny the existence of god would be like a mother denying the existence of her child. It just won't happen.

They are taught that theirs is the only way to the exclusion of all others, the others are not atheists, they are just worshiping false gods... Christianity has an answer for everything, even if it is a blatantly anti-intellectual answer, they still have an answer...

I could be wrong, but I think Woden and Odin are the same guy....
no1home2: Achilles was a real guy too, but that doesn't mean the Greek pantheon played a part in the Trojan War.
Mark1011: Jesus stated that anyone who calls another a fool is in danger of hellfire.

I don't think Christians don't understand Atheism. I think Christians don't like Atheist constantly putting our God,Jesus down because don't understand what or why we believe.
I am sure that Egyptian history has proof of My God.
