Oh my word! I never thought anyone else ate fried potato sandwiches too! Yes, I still love them! I prefer mayo though!

Yes, we were pretty poor. My Dad was a pastor of a church and he did not accept money for preaching! NO WAY! He said God had called him to preach and he was NOT going to charge God's people! In as much, he worked a second job and my Mom worked too! They earned a meagor wage and it was hard to make all ends meet.

My Dad was a diabetic too and there were medical bills and medication which had to come first! We knew this and understood!

My sister and I, would never complain but, we sure had to look hard, some days, for something to eat! I think the worse lunch was pickles and crackers! Believe it or not, I still crumble crackers and pour a bit of the juice on them...now and then!

Your question brought many memories back to me! Thank you!

No but I heard a rumor that David Bowie had some casts made of some of his favorite things and also Rod Stewart back in the day. I think a bronze of my favorite teenage foods would make nice decorations for my kitchen. That would be fried popcorn shrimp from Shoney's,Campbells potatoes soup, ham and thick sliced cheese w/ slaw sandwich made from a place called Beatties open kitchen,Large dill pickle, stove top stuffing, hardees mushroom burgers meal and pizza hut pizza. Would that food rot inside the bronze? When I was little I loved fifth avenue candy bar ,that can be there too.

We had potatoes, with bacon pieces and onion mixed thru it. Yummm. Sometimes Mom would add a little bit of milk to it. This was for our evening meal.

We were poor, but I guess not as badly off as the kid down the block. He ate oatmeal 3 times a day toward the end of each month.

I was extremely poor at one point (went from upper middle class to poor). I ate soup, noodles (they were cheap), grilled chicken everyday, and the school's lunch offer.

Fried bologna on bread with cheese. And rice with butter and sugar. And top ramen and those little microwavable burritos, you could get ten for a couple bucks.

Lots and lots of Ramen noodles. I still eat it for breakfast every morning with a can of chicken for some protein. Creamy Chicken flavor is the bomb!

I ended up eating a lot of bread, beans and ketchup. We lived near water so we ate a lot of fish too. I still like to eat fish, but beans... yuk!

I was never poor, but my father was. He used to eat apple butter sandwiches a lot.

OMG, when I was married,
lots of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese,
chicken leg quarters
ground chuck
Man, sometimes times were hard
It's better now, but I don't forget those times...
Got to the point that if I saw one more bag of chicken leg quarters.......
