When reform Judaism was started in the early 1800's it was perceived as leading people away from a Torah lifestyle.

Could it now be exactly the opposite? Taking people new to Judaism and gently leading them to a Torah lifestyle? Could Judaism survive without this stepping stone of Reform Judaism?

that i see for some people in this section.
many of my atheist friends have the initials 'am' in their names. but there are others like 'vt' and 'mm' and thus and so.
is there a directory for a poor little gayish angel to find out.
or is it one of those "if you have to ask you'll never know" kind of deals?

thanks!!!

I feel that I am a generous person at Christmas and throughout the year with donations. My girlfriends get together and for Christmas this year it was decided that we would not do the elephant exchange. However the person's who's house it is at has asked that we bring a toy for Toy Mountain in lieu of exchanging. I really don't feel like doing this. I already donate money at my place of work to buy gifts and food, as does my husband at his place of employment. We also donate to another function we go to and on top of it I always ensure I bring a large amount of toys to the Humane society. I just don't want to also be donating here how do I not do this and not look like a smuck infront of my friends?

Do you find yourself hiding special presents that you don't want to put under the tree from your little ones or some other family members in the family, becuase they are too big to wrap, so do you find yourself putting them under beds and places where you think they won't find them.

I am going to a party being held by my college choir director, and I feel obligated to bring a small host/hostess gift. The only problem is that I'm not 21 and so I can't buy (and probably shouldn't bring) a bottle of wine as a gift.

What are some non-alcoholic gift ideas? Thank you.

In mexico, south america, Australia, USA, Africa.. there's still tribal people and they don't want to get with the program. They are either stubborn and don't want to change....or just far away in the jungle.

Yet on her own television show, she states repeatedly, that couples that "play house" and do not get legally married are not entitled to the same rights and protections as couples that do legally marry. As a jurist, isn't she condoning prejudice here? I mean what would she say if the government said Jews could not get legally married? Of course I don't watch her anymore, but what do you think of her beliefs as a judge?

I don't know what to buy the man. He is so nit picky about everything and very critical at times. Please offer suggestions if you can. I KNOW. I KNOW. If's the thought that counts, right? Well, I don't know what his thoughts are going to be.

when a person wont come to you or tell you the problem they have with you. Instead they do passive aggressive things to get your attention in the most obvious ways. Would a person like this really have an issue or is it just a game to them you think?

do you think creationists will be the downfall of Christ-followers (i.e. Christianity)? Intelligent people who have not taken sides on religion or atheism see the idiocy of creationists and immediately they are turned off by the ill-informed ignorant creationist delusional stories. How the creationists reject how God really did things (that is obvious through science) and instead side with an established dogmatic misinterpretation of Genesis. Again, do you think creationists will be the downfall of Christianity? Also do you know if creationism is on the decline? And those who have opened their eyes from the creationist lies- do you think they become atheists more often or do they become theistic evolutionists?

I knwo that you don't have the bible or anything else telling you how to live so there's not exactly a rule against it for you but it just seems to me that atheists wouldn't want to anyway because they think Christians are delusional. I know I wouldn't want to marry someone who I couldn't respect so atheists are you against being in love with a Christian?
