The amount varies from individual to individual; often this can be a blessing, as one grows from milk to meat, they will have the experience of not only seeing and understanding first hand how and what different factions are about, but also being tested and sharpened as they examine if the church is reasonably faithful to the Word of God, the sole source of truth pertaining to doctrine.

"Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.

11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.

12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." - Hebrews 5:8-14.

No way to answer.
Reason is, people change churches for a variety of causes.
A common one is moving out of town, or area, a new Pastor changes the direction of the church with bad theology (I've seen churches split) or they may even find more avenues to serve if they changed churches.

I changed once, but I have attended many many different denominations with friends. Out of all the denominations that I have attended and enjoyed, but would not plan to join: Catholic.

There are several churches that I have attended that I did not enjoy attending and would never join in a million years, sorry to say.

Let's see - for me, five times in 50 years:

St. Mary's (Baptized, Confirmed)

St. Bede's (closer to home so I could ride my bike)

St. Andrew and St. Charles (while in college)

St. Mark's (Antiochian Orthodox, after the Episcopal Church left the whole program in 1976)

St. Mary of the Angels (Ordained as a Deacon and Priest)

St. Barnabas the Apostle (where the Bishop sent me)

Since I have been saved, we have changed once. The reason we left the first church is because they was trying to run the church, instead of letting God's Pastor run it through the leadership of God.
