In the times of Ancient Greece, new innovations and ideas were introduced. Medicines were developed to cure ailments, and new philosophies were initiated: it was the Golden Age. But what happened during the midle ages? Citizens went back to their old ways... blaming god for diseases, blaming god for death, blaming god for this, blaming god for that. The medicines were forgotton. The science, the math, the architecture: all forgotten, solely due to one reason: God and christianity. The middle ages therefore set humantity back hundreds of years in evolution, affecting us today.

Dont get me wrong, i am not insulting anyone. IN fact, a plethora of my great friends are christian, and i dont have a problem with that. I just think that christianity itself has pulled us down, away from our full potential.
Tell me this is wrong

I just received an invitation to a housewarming party for a couple my fiancee and I are friends with. They included a list of places they were registered at. The thing is, they've been married for several years and it seems as if I am looking at the registry of newlyweds. They have toasters and shower curtains and dinnerware sets. We just bought them items like this three years ago! They're already established a home and just built this one, so they it seems as if they are trying to use this party to upgrade what they have. Is this normal? I feel as if it is cheesey. My fiancee spent well over 150+ hours helping with the building of their home and is also helping them move all this upcoming weekend. We were planning on just bringing a nice card and some cookies since he had contributed so much time to the home, but now I feel as if we're obligated to bring a gift. Just wondering if I am being a prude or if I have the right to raise an eyebrow! Thanks in advance! :)

This is what Jesus said about those who reject and persecute the Church he founded.

“He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.” – Luke 10,16 (KJV)

Jesus also gave the Church the authority to forgive and retain sins. So if the Church condemns your blasphemy and heresy, (retains your sin) aren’t you hell-bound?

“Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” – Matthew 18,18 (KJV)

The Jehovah's Witness Governing Body Translators Of NWT:

1. Nathan Knorr - not knowledgeable of bible language.
2. Albert Schroeder - not knowledgeable of bible language.
3. George Gangas - not knowledgeable of bible language.
4. Fred Franz - self-study
5. M. Henschel - not knowledgeable of bible language.

A JW will surely go to a credible doctor who is an expert in his field of study to check his/her physical body. But it is surprising that they choose to ignore the credentials of those who translated the NWT which concerns their spiritual body. Will you trust their New World Translation as accurate even if their translators were not formally educated in the ancient biblical language? Why not compare their NWT with the other Bible versions translated by the foremost evangelical Bible scholars. (John 1:1; Phil. 2:5-7)

I am a Christian, and at youth group, we often have the discussion about if animals have souls or not. I really want to believe that they do.

But from a religious standpoint, they didn't commit the original sin, so doesn't that mean they didn't sin and are clean, therefore, don't have to make a choice?

But then again...are animals capable of making a choice to live for God themselves? I'm not sure about that...

So I'm not sure about that. My pastor said he believes that they don't..but I don't know.

So what do you think?

So what's the reason behind it? Whenever I go to restaurants or bars, employees there call me so, and it makes feel uneasy. Is that because I look childish or stupid or what? I don't see them calling others so.

I just watched a recent interview they made to the Dalai Lama on CNN, and he mentioned he meditated on impermanence. What are your ideas on this? Sounds like a good idea. It's a way of detaching oneself from things, he said.

I say that if you believe there is a Hell, then you will live a better life than the other way. What do you think? Try to be rational rather than just attacking Christianity. I know that is hard for some.

The most beautiful and profound emotion we can experience is the sensation of the mystical. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead. To know that what is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty, which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their primitive forms-this knowledge, this feeling, is at the center of true religion." A quote by Albert Einstein!

When I consider things like "The 7 Deadly Sins" and "The 7 heavenly Virtues", I see a pattern.

Vanity=belief in yourself (man), Faith=belief in God.
Lust=desire for what man has to offer, Hope=desire for what God has to offer.
Greed=collecting riches for yourself(man), Charity=collecting riches for God

The sins are centered around Man. The virtues are centered around God.

Also, consider The Lord's Prayer: "...thy KINGDOM come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven..."

Heaven is a monarchy, with God as the monarch. If God's will is to be done on earth as it is in Heaven, then all earthly governments should be monarchies.

Democracy, literally, is rule by the people. Or, rule by Man, if you will. If a government is centered on protecting the rights of Man, as opposed to the monarch, does that then make Democracy itself sinful?
