I asked a similar question about sexual protection. To all of those opposed to stem cell research for religious reasons, do you believe that it is an evil scheme of the devil? If not, what is it?

Did the bibles say anything about this?

Does anyone else feel relieved? After reading so many "Christians,
How come...? questions...
There may be some that can understand that not all Christians are the same, and not all of us interpret the Bible the same, or follow the same worship service practices the same?

Well, they aren't exactly questions. I think of it as people being obsessed over other races, and have nothing better to do since they have no friends.

So I understand the part "soft facial features that made him look rather like a poet......."

so there are just a few words I'm missing but I haven't been able to figure it out from dictionary definitions.

What god or goddess(if any) do you believe in? Why do you choose to follow the teachings of this being? How do you feel this religion has changed your life and other's? Would you change your religion if you felt you were allowed to? I want to know about the religions people follow because I feel as a Christian that if I can know more about other religions, I can care for everyone and pray for them and understand them better, thus making our world just a little more peaceful. I am very curious about religions. I find them interesting.

My pastor, Father Steven Downes, was held at gun point yesterday at the 5:30 mass. A gun man came into the church and was acting suspicously around the choir. When Father Steve went over to see what was wrong, the gun man punched and kicked him. He flew onto his back and passed out. The church then grabbed rope and tied the criminal up. This was in Palmdale, CA in LA county. Have you seen the news about this SoCal residents?

Studies show that in the US, most people are illiterate about what most religions teach. To know anything about American history, for example, Judaism and Christianity are essential subject matter. Could it be that some of our problems with Islamic nations is because we don not understand the basics of that religion? Shouldn't the basics of these and other religions be taught?

Please note I am not a 7th Day Adventist.

Another early health food advocate was Sister Ellen White, a leader in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and a founder of the Health Reform Institute in the late 1800s. A strong advocacy for vegetarianism emerged from this group. It may have been this movement that created the need for the first health food stores. The Adventists created the first meat analogs (meat substitutes with meat-like texture) in the United States.END QUOTE

There is a very nice 25 yr. old church youth leader that is attracted to young girls. His last gf was 15. Her parents were ok with them dating, and the whole church didn't bat an eyelash about the happy couple. They broke up and now he is flirting with other young girls. Since he is a christian I am pretty sure there is no sex involved, that is what he told everyone. His father is 10 yrs. older than his mother so he was raised to think the man should be much older than the wife. Everyone in the church turns a blind eye to this. The whole church loves him very much and would never consider him a pervert. He keeps getting older and the girls he chases keeps getting younger. It doesn't help that these young girls flirt shamelessly with him and throw themselves at him. I don't want to cause trouble and if I went to the pastor or church board I know that they would get mad at me and think I have a dirty mind. This isn't my church, but my children attend. Any advice?

I have been trying to find the answer to this and cannot. I know Catholics believe in mortal and venial sins. I am curious how you think applies to purgatory. If someone dies with mortal sin do they go to purgatory or is that a direct trip to Hell?

I believe that there is one supreme being who created the gasses that caused the big bang then evolution...This god is all loving and understanding ( I believe all religions are "right") I figure if people didnt preach that their religion is the only right one there would be alot less extremists' killing innocent people. Following self moral is key because all other morals are just opinions. There is no Hell (No antichrist, satan etc.) self gratification is another key in life as long as its not at the expense of others. Jesus/Ghandi taught valuable lessons of loving and not killing and last but not least live by your own moral values and standards.

Thank you

So you hear Christians say all the time that we have freedom OF religion, not FROM it. What exactly does it mean?

I mean to have freedom of religion that would mean you can practice ANY religion that you want and no one can force you to practice a certain type right? Since no one can tell you to practice a certain type, doesn't that also mean that no one can tell you to practice religion at all? If someone tells you to be a Catholic doesn't that mean they're infringing on your freedom of religion?

So doesn't that mean Freedom OF religion ALSO means freedom FROM religion?

If you don't agree, please post why.
