I think that's a great question. I would point you to a man who I believe asked the same question and I also believed that he found the key. I am talking about Pope John Paul II and the key that I think he found was simple - "listen to the youth".
It is quite remarkable that youth are always being preached to and being told what to do and what not to do - constantly, but not many people who can really help them listen to them, like parents, teachers, pastors, etc. And it is quite remarkable what can happen to young person's life when someone stops talking and takes time to just listen. Just listen to their questions, worries, problems, anxieties, fears, anything that's on that young person's mind and heart. And when you don't know the answer, simply say "I don't know."
In my experience, that's what a young person thirsts for (other then for God) - someone to just hear them out and not to judge them but just hear them out. May God inspire you how to best become an instrument for God to enflame the hearts of young people with love for Him. God bless you

Unless you are the Holy Spirit...you can do no more than what God tells you.

We cannot do anything but point the way. Only God can give the increase. We can teach, encourage and be an example. But it takes the Holy Spirit to convict the heart.

As a youth leader, the main responsiblity is to love them as Jesus does. With that, you can teach and be an example. Otherwise, pray and leave it up to the Lord.

You youth? Are these your children or are you a youth pastor? There are many things you can do. The 1st thing you need to do is pray. Pray for God to direct you and use you to reach and encourage these kids. Pray for the Holy Spirit to take their thoughts captive and draw them near to Christ. Pray for them to become thirsty for the Word of God and the presence of God. There are many great tools today for reaching youth. There is such great music like Newsboys, Jars of Clay, Jeremy Camp etc. Watch for good Christian concerts in your area and take them. Show them movies like The Case For Christ and One Nation Under God. I provide these types of things for our youth group at church and they really enjoy them.Listen to their needs and ask them what they would like to pray for.Pray and study the Bible together. If you are a willing vessel God will use you and He will guide you as to what you can do if your eyes are open and you are listening for His direction. This may just my personal experience, but I seem to hear Gods direction clearest, 1st thing in the morning. God bless you for caring about the youth. They truly are our Future.

Educate them and let them make the choice for themselves. I thankfully did not any particular religion shoved down my throat, and when I got of age I made up my own mind as to the nature of the universe and am one of the most passionate individuals I know on the subject.

They will thank you for it when the times comes! I have never heard of someone hating their parents for allowing them the chance to choose for themselves, but I have seen countless accounts of those who resent and hate their elders for forcing them to accept the religions of their parents.

Teach them that there are innumerable beliefs in the world and to accept them and allow them a chance to find their own path.

Stop forcing it on them, show them how a true christ follower would be, I mean show them what a good person would be and how they would act and maybe they might want to act the same way and they might become interested in the same things as you. Or maybe you could accept that they arnt passionate about him and that they might have their OWN views on the world not YOURS.

Stop lying to them an telling them they'll go to hell if they don't believe how you do. Show them the beauty of the universe, our differences, and show them how science can help us communicate with God by letting us see some of his plan, rather than touting a disproved, bigoted theory created by men for the purpose of controling the rest of us. I hope your true question wasn't: How can I sway them to MY belief about God and scare them out of their own.

Read it with them. Make it a sort of family time type of thing. Taking them to church will not have the same affect. You must make it personal to them, a shared moment between parents and their kids. That will definitely make them more open to the word and make your family stronger.

By setting an example. Children learn more by what they see then by what they are told. 8:)

Pro 23:13 Withhold not correction from the child: for [if] thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
Pro 23:14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

Hummmm?
