First of all, vent all you want, its good to share your feelings with others. Anyways, I completely agree with you. My sister makes the same comment all the time and it really bugs me. I don't understand why so many people associate negative things ,or just things they don't like, with being homosexual. Truly, I think the use of this word in such a manner shows immense misunderstanding and even ignorance regarding people who are homosexual and just what being "gay" actually means. So, I totally understand where your coming from; it gets on my nerves too. Thanks for bringing the issue up.

Its a lot better than what they use to say....
Its almost cool to say now...
They are always stealing our ideas the first person I ever heard say that phrase indeed was gay, and I laughed because it was a funny joke.
I think it is lighting up if that's the worst they can through at us our job has been done. Saying it just brings them a bit closer to feeling a little bit 'cooler"

My son says that too. I have no idea why. Gay used to mean happy. . How did the word gay come about anyways for Homosexuals?.

That doesn't offend me, but what does is when they say it around me and then they are all like, sorry Nate if I offended you. Why do they have to point out the fact that I am gay, I don't care if they say it.

Good question. The teenage son of a couple with whom my husband and I are good friends is always using that term - "That's gay!" - when implying something's bad. Personally, I don't like it; it offends me, and I don't let him use it in my house any time he's here.

Because your school is not doing its duty in protecting gay students against harrassment and a hostile learning environment. While these comments are not made directly to gay people, they create a climate where gay people are made to feel inferior, worthless, inadequate and bad.

If for example people ran around saying, "That's so black" when they meant something was bad, dumb or ugly, how would Black students feel?

Well, there's gay, and then there's gaaaaaaaay. If it's gayer than a sequined purse at the Tony Awards, then it's gaaaaaaaay.

I'm seriously LMAO. that's funny. I'm laughing because i use the phrase sometimes, and one time, i said it, and my friend looked at me and said "yes, Heather, that is so homosexual". then we laughed. it's funny, because he is gay. sorry, that brought me back. good rant.
