I understand that this has caused hatred, deaths, war amongst people for centurys. Also, I heard that religion is man-made and is never mentioned in the bible. So why do so many people have a religion?

Okay I was the other days at a nail salon (yes, I'm metro) and while I was talking to the girl taking care of me I asked her about whether the capital of VietNam was either Hanoi or Saigon. Trying to keep the conversation going. She shook her head when I mentioned Hanoi and emphatically responded with Saigon. Then she began talking with other employees in Vietnamese and next thing I know they're gathered around her. While I don't understand the language, I did pick up the words, Hanoi, Saigon, and Ho Chi Minh. It's not like they appeared angry or anything but I sorta perceived they might've been making fun of me among themselves. So for my question, was the question I asked considered offensive or rude or whatnot among the Vietnamese population? And second, just out of curiosity, what could they've been saying about me?

Question for all: Not just believers.

I have watched that show A Haunting (I think I've seen most if not all of the episodes so far; CREEPY!!!)

I don't know if I believe in that stuff, but the more episodes I watch, the more I start to and wonder if I didn't grow up in a haunted house (built before 1920, one family owned it, son died in a motorcycle accident) just 'cause of some similarities I've seen related in that show (plenty of unexplained noises, sleep paralysis, ferocious dreams, most about our attic).

So, I'm just wondering if anyone else believes in ghosts, demons, etc.?

I have stories, one I'll put a link to (I answered a Q a while back; mine is an answer; happened at a different house, though, but SCARY!! May take a minute to find.)

I was just curious if anyone out there identified themselves as a Noahide or a Ben or Bas Noach (basically, someone who follows the God of Avraham but is not a Jew, Christian, or Muslim).

If you don't know what I'm talking about, you can check out the following links:

Many of you say you are more intelligent than theists; in fact, some of you call us stupid, idiots, etc. Albert Einstein is known as the greatest mind the world has ever known yet he was humble enough to believe in a God.

The last time I posted this question my question was not answered. Instead, there was a debate on whether Einstein was a theist or not. Here are some quotes from Einstein, which I got from the web, which should settle the issue. So now please answer my question.

Science without Religion is lame.
Religion without Science is blind. Einstein

"The harmony of natural law reveals an intelligence of such superiority that, compared with it, all the systematic thinking and acting of human beings is an utterly insignificant reflection." Einstein

I would like you to join me, in a sincere and honest feeling of sadness for Lady Saphira. i used to get very angry at her comments. but as i have read them i have come to realize that she is not jsut a troll, but someone that actually believes what she says. this type of energy cannot be good for anyone. it robs the very soul of it's inate beauty. I would find it disrespectful to say pray for her, but try to wish her and her family well. Positive action creates positive energy. and that creates a positive person.

so that this is a question...what did you have for dinner, and did it have any spiritual meaning to you?

I got married in Iceland three years ago, and actually said my vows in Icelandic. However, for the life of me, I can't remember the exact words that would be equivalent to "I Do."

"Já" (yes) was the first part, but then it sounded something like "theri geri jil" (spelling/pronunciation/my memory might obviously be way off) Does anyone know what I might have said?

NOTE: I'm not looking for the exact translation of "I Do."

p.s. Apologies if you've seen this before - I messed up the "additional details" editing earlier.

if you think being gay is wrong...why? is it because the bible (or other text) or church (or other establishment) told you so, or do you have a truly personal problem with it?

note: it's immoral is not a good answer. why is it immoral? i define immoral as something causing harm to someone else. how is being gay immoral?

I myself despise 90% of all famous TV preachers but there are a few good ones out there. Here is my list:
D James Kennedy
Charles Stanely
and I like that Jewish Christian guy Randy Weiss. He seems very intellegant. Who would you put on your list?

It seems like many are like me, pretty much set in their beliefs. Many are able to handle the diversity with a degree of manners and grace, while a few seem only to want to vent. Lately, I have seen a few accounts created to come on R&S to only ask profane questions, or give foul answers. How many think it was kids with no supervision? I do not want to believe that there are that many adults walking around with so much hate and rage.

That should mean that over 2,500 gods exist.

I am a believer, and have been saved for seven years. However, the past couple of years have been really difficult for me, death of a close family member, bad relationship, preparing to leave home, etc. While I still have my faith and love the Lord, my daily devotions have pretty much stopped. I have gotten out of the habit of prayer. My spiritual growth is stunted, and I haven't been able to get back on track. I feel alone, like I'm spinnin my wheels and falling behind. Can someone help me get back to where I need to be spiritually?

The so-called moderate or liberal Christians anger me much more than fundamentalists, because at least fundamentalists can point to the Bible for support to their claims. When a fundamentalist says Jesus said something, you can bet there's a chapter and verse for it. I may disagree with fundamentalists, but I can at least agree that the Bible does in fact say whatever it is they claim it says. With "moderate" Christians, the conversation quickly drifts into "feelings." As in, "I just don't feel that a loving god would condemn gays to Hell." Or, "I don't feel a nice guy like Jesus would forbid anyone from entering Heaven."

Atheists often pander to these "moderate" Christians, assuming, I guess, that the propaganda message will undermine real Christians' faith, or at least discourage them from practicing their religion as it is written in the Bible. I find this intellectually dishonest and morally repugnant. We shouldn't allow people to say stupid things for any reason.

I speak Spanish and I was wondering if Romanian would be an easy language for me to learn since it's a Romance language and they probably have a lot of phonetic similarities.
