I protect them in many different ways depending on what a given situation calls for..
When we are out walking the the forest around our house I carry my gun and a large walking stick to protect them and myself from snakes and other animals that may cross our path..
I teach them to view situations and look ahead so they are more able to extract themselves from a situation before there is a need for violent protection..
Etc etc.
Every situation calls for a slightly different take on how to protect.. Sometimes it's best to back away, sometimes it's best to charge in.. I try to think of the future so I am teaching the ones love to protect themselves and others while I am protecting them as I will not always be there to do the protecting..

Teach them the truth about the dangers in this world. If they are old enough to ask, they are old enough to get a straight answer.
ALWAYS know where they are and who they are with and what those people believe is right and wrong before you ever let them go.
This list could go on and on and on.
They seriously need to have solid people in their lives. To be taught about God and protected from those who hate Him.
I told you, this list could just keep going, like the energizer bunny.
Always the TRUTH, and then deal with it according to what is right.
Teach them to treat others like they want to be treated.
Call the authorities if necessary.
Always put their safety first before yours.
Way too many scenarios, not enough info on the question. My mind goes to children immediately since we've raised 5 and still have 4 at home.

We can pray to God, but this sin-cursed planet is not His puppet. The bad guys have free will, and bad things DO happen to "good" people.
We can buy locks and alarms, but the evil ones can defeat our best efforts at times.
We can protect our loved ones with the empty promise "Nothing well happen", but God only knows.
Frankly we have to do all those things, to protect those we love, and still war or disaster could wipe out you home, neighbourhood or even the whole town.
My kid brother died this summer from cancer. I prayed, but he died!
The only sanctuary you can offer your loved ones is God's promises of a perfect Paradise in the after-life.
Peace on Earth requires Peace with Him.
seek the real sanctuary from harm...Salvation, and eternal joy in heaven after you die!
The truth is you ARE going to die, no matter how you are "protected", but Jesus has prepared a perfect place across the river.

Well, focus on loved ones being safe and cared for. Fear draws to us what we think we want to avoid. Send blessings of goodwill their way. Think of them as happy and in good health. If you are so inclined, ask for a few guardian angels to increase their positive vibrations. Then extend this out to the whole world. Just think, if we all did this, what would this world be like?

By the words of "those you love" it appears everyone here is posting of protecting their childern.
I protect them the way that i try and protect any and everyone i love....
I educate them with complete and accurate information on everything from sex to violence to drugs and to prejudice...racial, religious and otherwise.
I encourage them and try to lead by example to practice love and tolerance for all. But with my children, the youngest, 8yr old twins, i feel obligated to teach love and loyalty to each other and not to be afraid to use the law of equal force against those who threaten them with physical violence. But they also know that it is ok to be different and diversity is what makes life so wonderful!
My children are encouraged to explore different religious beliefs as well as different cultures and find the beauty in all.
The only thing that is important to me right now for them spiritually, is to realize that yes...there is a god.
God is Everything or God is Nothing....this is just ot let them know that they do not have to put "god in a box".....
They know that there are choices for every situation and consequences for those choices.( which aren't all bad btw)
and so by teaching them to make responsible choices and to be accountable for their actions....this is all that i can do...and then put in the hands of my higher power...that mysterious divine entity commonly referred to as god.
Just my humble pagan thoughts and practices...
Blessed Be

You can't. Those whom you love will make their own choices about their own lives and there is not much you can do about it.
You loved ones may make decisions that are hurtful, dangerous, self-destructive, or spiritually abhorrent. There is nothing you can do, except to lay a foundation with your own children and hope for the best.
