CHEROKEE CREATION STORY

When the Earth begun there was just water. All the animals lived above it and the sky was beginning to become crowded. They were all curious about what was beneath the water and one day Dayuni'si, the water beetle, volunteered to explore it.

He went everywhere across the surface but he couldn't find any solid ground. He then dived below the surface to the bottom and all he found was mud.

This began to enlarge in size and spread outwards until it became the Earth as we know it.

After all this had happened, one of the animals attached this new land to the sky with four strings.

Just after the Earth was formed, it was flat and soft so the animals decided to send a bird down to see if it had dried. They eventually returned to the animals with a result.

The land was still to wet so they sent the great Buzzard from Galun'lati to prepare it for them.

The buzzard flew down and by the time that he reached the Cherokee land he was so tired that his wings began to hit the ground. Wherever they hit the ground a mountain or valley formed. The Cherokee land still remains the same today with all the land forms that the Buzzard formed.

The animals then decided that it was too dark, so they made the sun and put it on the path in which it still runs today.

The animals could then admire the newly created Earth around them.

I have two questions about the Spanish Subjunctive. I'd appreciate any help you could give me, for either phrase.

"I would have been angry if my room were cold when I returned":
My attempt: "Me habria enojado si en mi cuarto hiciera calor cuando volvi"
My Spanish friend's correction: "Me habria enojado si en mi cuarto hiciera calor cuando VUELVA"

Question: Why does "volvi" become "vuelva" in this case? From what I understand, the subjunctive is for things that are doubtful; if in this case, I did return (an event in the past), and it's not hypothetical, why do I need to use the subjunctive?

And finally,
in an "If" clause about a hypothetical situation, is the subjunctive necessary? As in...

"Quieren que me duerma si HAYA cenado" or "Quieren que me duerma si HE cenado"?

I hope that wasn't too wordy. If you can answer either question I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

In YA News today, I read an article of a fisherman in Indonesia who caught a large fish, whose fossil records date back 360 million years ago. Most scientists thought that the fish had become extinct with the dinosaurs, but here we are. It is interesting to note, in a period of over 360 million years the Coalacanth has remained a Coalacanth, and not evolved into lets say, a vermicious knid...what's up with that? How can this be? Is evolution selective? Why no evolution for some species, yet for others they are like Transformers? Kisses!!!!

Can someone please analyze why I would feel this way? B/c of this or as a result of this, I disregard people very easily. "Who cares what they think, they are nothing to me." Should I treat everyone I encounter (including strangers on the street) as a significant person that deserves time and respect?

For those who believe God elects people for salvation based upon His foreknowledge of their positive response to the gospel.

What's your take on Ephesians 2:3, which says that the believers at Ephesus, prior to conversion, "were BY NATURE children of wrath, JUST AS THE OTHERS." (caps for emphasis) Does this contradict the popular idea that God elects those who are PREDISPOSED to respond favourably to the preaching of Christ ?

Also, the later verse 5 states that, "even when WE WERE DEAD IN TRESSPASSES, (God) MADE US ALIVE together with Christ" (caps & insert mine). So, if this deadness refers to a SPIRITUAL state, how could any sinner have it WITHIN HIMSELF to accept the gospel? For 1 Corinthians 2:14 says, "But the natural (i.e. spiritually dead, unregenerate) man DOES NOT RECEIVE THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."

Your sharings, please ?

Thanks in advance for all polite answers.

We live in a society where people come from all parts of the world and they all walk on the left or the right of the hallway.

We in Canada were always taught to walk on the right side and it was litterally drilled into us with every fire drill and class change from elementary school on up.

Now at work I get all kinds of dirty looks when I am on the right and I bump into someone coming the other way.

when you run a company and this happens dozens if not hundreds of of times every single day don't you think you would address the point or is it really too minor.
I have never said anything to anyone about it but since i'm here i thought i'd ask what you all think
