Serious question.

If I can argue that the Catholic faith is absolutly biblical (I can) and also I can argue that the evangelical belief is biblical (again I can) how do I reconcile the two.

Now before the evangelical amatures come out with some out of context bible quotes this is a serious question.

Most priest must spend around 50 times what the average pastor does studying the bible and church history.

I would like a balanced view.

I love the whole once saved always saved evangelical stance, its so great, but is it true. Isisnt the catholic stance more biblical.

please dont post from a anti-catholic site, I can give you 2000 years of books to back up any claim.

Seriously, now don't be rude! I think most of you Atheists are funny, completely lost but funny. Are you ever willing to change your ways or are you completely content with your lifestyle and are always going to argue when talking with a Christian and now I am just babling on and on!

...my question is how can any of you be correct?

All of the responders had different opinions, or variations on a theme.

Yet NONE of these views are in the bible, the "word of god".

All of you can't be right. Likely none of you are right. But where do you get these ideas from? Your priest? What makes them know something that isn't in the bible?

Are you just making excuses to fill in the gaps when, in reality, none of you have any idea?

If it were true, wouldn't more poeple have the exact same answer?

John 14:28:

"Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my FATHER IS GREATER THAN I" (my caps)

Hebrews 5:7:

"Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;" (Why would Jesus have Godly fear if they are equal)

1 Corinthians 15:28:

"And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all." (Why would Jesus SUBJECT himself to God if they are equal)

These passages come from KJV

What can the church do to make ammends and move forward?

They need to be completely transparent! Make monetary settlments if need be. Show everyone that they are taking steps to prevent these abuses from happening in the future.

What do you think?

What would u do if u went on vacation to an islamic country like Egypt and went to the beach(like in Hurghada)and found a girl wearing wet suit(long sleeved and her body is all covered like the wet suits worn during surfing)except that she wasn't surfing and was swimming in the sea 'cause she's muslim and she has to cover all her hair and body.Would u respect her? What would u think of her?Would u think that she had a lot of confidence in herself?'cause I think that they r very confident and should be respected. What do u think?Or would u laugh at someone like her 'cause that'd be very mean.

So a few of the answers I got to my last question stated that becuase this was the son of the Trinity, it made sense that he called out "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"

Hmmm..

But before Jesus came to earth in human form, he was a part of the trinity and omnipotent. Which means when he came to earth he already knew how it would end.

So again, WHY ask why he has forsaken himself?

So Mondays keep repeating. Does it mean Days have a cycle of repetition? LIke ...each year there is seasons...so it makes sense to have months that happen each year. But days that happen each week....what is the connection?

Is there anything this Monday that is the same in next week's monday?

Or was the idea of "Week" just an invention sculpted in order to make work organized?

did Satan write the Bible?
Yeah I know you're going to say god did, but we know that isn't true, it was inspired by God or something, meaning a bunch of old people wrote it.
So if Satan is the Great Deceiver, what better deception than religion.

My whole life, I've heard of people talk about the song "Imagine" by John Lennon as if it were some inspirational anthem. Listening to the words, I find it to be a rather depressing and even blasphemous.
What exactly do people find inspiring about a song where there's no God, everyone is poor and making no plans for the future and only "living for today"? That's not easy, no matter HOW hard I try. Why not a song where we imagine a loving God, a world where everyone has plenty, and a glorious Heaven awaits? This song says the opposite, and people find it inspirational. Huh?

For the record, here are the lyrics:
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us

people who think for, for any reason at all, that homosexuality is unnatural and morally wrong, are demonized and labeled as homophobes, bigots, and every other name in the book? If they want to be accepted for who they are and not have people try to change the way they are then why can't they do the same for others?

Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Jesus is god, correct? He had to know before creation he'd be nailed to a cross, right? Because god is omnipotent, right?

So why is he asking himself why has he forsaken himself?

Was he nuts?
