the verse is in relation to the promise of the time. Yet, this promise is still ours today through the pouring of the Spirit upon us.

When we do what we know is the right thing to do; we have inner peace. If I have something on my heart to do and I put it off and do it later and knowing it is the right thing to do; I do not feel the full joy or peace; as if I had done it when I first was inspired to do it. By making things right and the effect of doing so; our spirits will be peacful, calm, and assured that we did the rightous thing. I try to be more obediant so that I can have that blessed peace that serpasses all understanding.

I feel that God is really speaking to me lately about the Body of Christ, and in many ways this goes with the verse you are sharing.
As a body of Christ, we need to be in unity. Thta means that we seek peace. For a body to work together, it must be at peace with one another, in harmony.
So, do you think that if we seek after righteousness (not self-righteousness, but living our lives as God shows us so that we can have peace), we would become the body of Christ that God wants us to be???

A wonderful promise that fulfilled for the Southern Kingdom. God was using Isaiah to keep God's people from fleeing Judah.
There was no such promise for the Northern Kingdom, Israel, because of their idolatry. The ten northern kingdoms were carried away as captives by the Assyrians, who occupied Israel and became known as the Samaritans in Christ's day.
Concerning Judah, that promise was short lived because they later turned to idolatry in the times of Jeremiah and Ezekiel. They were later carried away to Babylon for 70 years of exile.
How did they do on their return? Well, the New Testament records their rejection of the Messiah. And a last-day Bible code proves Jesus is that Messiah, the prince of peace: www.revelado.org/revealed.htm

My heart and soul love peace. Peace and quietness shall be found in the way and work of righteousness. True satisfaction is to be had only in true religion. And real holiness is real happiness now, and shall be perfect happiness, that is, perfect holiness for ever.

when I read this passage of scripture I think that the only way we can have peace and assurance is through being righteous. However, Jesus said, our righteousness must exceed that of the Pharisees. So how can our righteousness exceed them who were very brilliant and religious men? The only way is the through the shed blood of Christ- when we accept Him as Savior, He replaces our filthy rags with His Robe of Righteousness- so therefore Christ is the one that brings us peace and assurance.

As the prophet Isaiah also said, “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you” (Isaiah 26:3).
The fruit of righteousness(right living) before God is peace.
