I would neither laugh nor taunt her.But I would advise her not to do such things. Wearing a wet suit, whether it's long sleeved or nor.. is still showing every curve of a woman's body and is most transparent. To me it's as if she just wore a bathing suit. One is just showing more skin than the other. Muslim woman should be swimming in a in-door gym, or private pool, or a pool at home.. or a private place where there are only girls. Any where public like that.. doesn't make sense.

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim - In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
It is not up to me to judge her but I would like to point out that just covering one's body does not fulfill the Islamic requirement for hijaab. A wet suit is extremely form fitting and actually can be as exposing as a bathing suit, so by itself it is not appropriate for a woman OR a man to wear. The obligation of a woman's clothing is that it must be long, covering all but face and hands, opaque, so that it cannot be seen through, and loose, so it cannot show the body's form. Men must be covered between the navel and the knees, and their clothes must not be see through or tight either.
Also, the beaches of Hurghada in Egypt and beaches in many other "Muslim" countries are places where men and women dress immodestly and mix in a manner that is not appropriate. I would say to any young lady or young man, avoid the beaches as Allah has told you to lower your gaze in order to avoid seeing what is forbidden.
I would never laugh at someone because that really would be mean, as you say. Nonetheless I would give sincere advice to my brother or sister in Islam that it is beneficial to avoid such places that are open markets for fornication. If someone misses swimming in the sea, they only have to remember that this life is short and Allah will reward the patient believer who refrains from sinful things and doubtful things. InshAllah if a believer loves to swim, Allah will give him or her a lovely pool in Jannah. And Allah knows best.
Fi Aman Allah,
Nancy Umm Abdel Hamid

You're African American and he is ....Muslim. You do realize that there's lots of African American Muslims, right? Anyway, you guys are 16 and young. You're not in love with him or anything. At the most, just infatuated. Dating is forbidden according to his religion. Only marriage is allowed. If you want to marry him, then I'd suggest studying Islam first. If you're not that serious, then just move on.

I wouldn't laugh at her because sometimes people just don't know much about a religion. I would rather tell her more about religion. I wouldn't however wear that, because that shows the figure of your body anways and i wouldn't go swimming on the beach because my religion comes before anything else. To be physically fit, there's alot more you can do. The purpose of Life is far greater than going swimming.

Actually, many people wear total body suits because their skin is sensitive to the sun. They burn easily, or get skin cancer, and the full suit enables them to enjoy swimming again! So wet suits are fine with me!

no i def would not respect her, if she was really religous and dedicated to islam, then she would have the guts to stay in egypy under the hot sun for the whole summer. and besides there are INDOOR POOLS my bff went there last year and she also wears the hijab and she swam in the indoor pool (with girls only!) while her brothers swam in the ocean outside. no respect at all! and besides the main reason is for no one to see your cures/body especially men and i can bet that men would see her body, and i know that the surfing unifors are tight i've seen them, so that would kinda be like wearing nothing cause its sooo tight.!!

I have great respect for their goals to be discrete.
I have no respect for laws that punish because they aren't.
That should be a decision on a local level. If they are not discrete, people won't associate with them.
Freedom first.

we encourage christian girls to wear suits to cover their bodies (but not their hair).
but in Christianity, they are not required or commanded to do so. its more of a choice to glorify Jesus, and be a virtuous, modest woman.
