I've been approached by many of my friends that know I was raised catholic, but later dropped my faith. They approach me with various questions such as..

1. "If one of the commandments states "Thou shalt not commit adultery", why did he force another man's wife to give birth to his child, instead of created a child like he created Adam?"

2. "He also states "Thou shalt not murder", yet when he sent the plagues, one killed the first born child of families. Then here was the burning of Sodom and Gomorrah"

3. "Thou shalt not covet" but he himself said "You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the LORD your God am a jealous God,"

Now, I am a neutral party, not disagreeing or agreeing with anyone. I just want to know..

What do you guys think?

I'm tired of these people on Y! Answers saying that Black woman are unattractive, and no man thinks that are attractive. Men and woman show proof that you think any woman of any race can be beautiful.

Is it okay that Jesus messed up on some history?

Jesus said in Mark 2:25-26 that David ate bread from the house of God "in the days of Abiathar the high priest".

I Samuel 21:1 says that it was Ahimelech that was priest when David ate the bread...

Abiathar was son of Ahimelech, as stated in I Samuel 22:20

If Jesus had made the mistake the other way around, the mistake could be overlooked, because possibly the father could still be prominent, but in this case no matter what angle you see it, there is no way you would say "in the days of" the son.

Furthermore, Ahimelech wasn't just around, he was directly involved in this historical event, so why reference another person?

Clearly a mix-up, but who's to blame? Read the chapters for yourself, the references are correct

I was raised Catholic. Married Catholic, all 3 kids baptized Catholic. For the past 5 years or so, I've been attending a non-denominational church (actually, 3 different ones at different times). I am currently 'unchurched' (story and explanation involved, not necessary for this purpose).
I like the church the rest of my family attends. They're involved in activities. We have a lot of friends that attend there.
However, I don't believe all kinds of things that the Church teaches and am vocal about it. I also find Mass a total bore.
I would like us all to worship as a family. Hubby has NO intention of changing churches (to his credit, he did try going with me). Would it be hypocritical or "bad" of me to go with them? Am I giving something up to be with my family or does it not, in the long run, matter?
I'm sure there are many others with the same dilemma. What did you do? What would you do if you were me?

Are there any groups promoting tolerance and acceptance between believers and nonbelievers. Atheists arent bad people. Some of the greatest people in the bible started off as nonbelievers. And some of the greatest minds in philosophy and art and science have been atheists Same is true for theists. Some of the most evil people in history have claimed to be obeying the call of a religion. And some of the most evil actions done have been by atheist forcing people to not have a religion.

We all are humans

They are good to have around and a lot of fun!

But sometimes they are messy and want to be around you too much. But you aren't supposed to put a girl in a cage! I wish you could though!

I went to give blood this past week and because I am bisexual and I had sex with another man in the past I can never give blood through them. Even though I've had a negative STD test and it was about 10 years ago. The guideline is any man who has had sex with another man since 1977. You can't tell me that straight people are any cleaner than a large portion of today's gay population.

This should change! What do you think?

.... does that mean that the protestant, anglican, episcopalian, orthodox, amish, baptist, lutherian, presbytherian, and seventh-day adventists denominations should now be considered as sects, clubs, lobbies, bands, cohorts, gangs, clans, hooligans or tribes ?

Mainly Christianity....
In reading so many posts from Athiest, I read insult after insult attack on people who believe in GOD as un-educated, fantasy
drug users the list is endless on rude inept comments.

Of course it's all expected as in scripture it describes people as scoffers, arrogant and self indulgent and this site is a prime example of scoffers in scripture
In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived (2 Timothy 3:12-13).
For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

So will you admit you are fullfilling scripture as Atheists?
