Like for me, the smell of Mormon churches will forever be the smell of those little pleated paper cups and white bread.

Seriously, you can read quite a bit about how God loves smells and what he likes in the Old testament. Exodus and Deuteronomy. If you have been to a Catholic church, you know about the incense they use.
Some churches smell musty and some like sweat.
There are a lot of churches that smell like money.
Must quit, I'm getting sarcastic.

Religion means "To tie back to God" ( however you conceive of God) So to me its:ocean salt spray. New baby or puppy smell. "Angel " Perfume by Theirry Mugler. Bread baking. Nag Champa incense. Jasmine and magnolia. Eucalyptus. Honeysuckle. Orange and apple blossoms. Certain roses, etc etc.
