I know this sounds like either a stupid question or a bashing but this is a serious question. Amongst every person I have ever known or presently know, the country of Mexico does not seem to be at all a country of vital importance to the rest of the world. I know that Mexico does have a few minor things that they contribute toward society, such as tequila, beer, and cheap trinkets that are sold as souvenirs to tourists, but what I and others that have brainstormed this subject want to know is:
What significance does Mexico hold to the all the great nations of the world?
Countries are known to the rest of the world by what they contribute toward the rest of society as a whole. Some countries overseas make great cars, cheese, electronics, clothing, etc. Mexico does seem to have great beaches, scenery, culture and might be a nice place to go on vacation but I still do not have any idea what else is the importance of Mexico as a country. Can anyone please explain this to me?

I'm 18 yrs old and I am an athiest
I have never been christened~I have never been to church
I have never read the bible or kuran or tora
I have lied before, I have had premarital sex, and I've broken a few of the other commandments~nothing too serious though.
I have never killed anyone or ruined anyones life
I work hard and play hard and love to be alive--
so my question is, do you think I will go to heaven?

Having been an evangelical Christian once and now being an atheist, I feel the chief benefit to me of atheism is that it frees me from a lot of the unpleasent side affects of religion.

It's nice to think God loves you and you're going to heaven when you die, but it also requires that you feel guilty for things you are not responsible for (lust for example), that you interperate absolutely everything through the lens of religion instead of viewing events naturally, and that occasionally you feel an uniquely desperate feeling of abandonment when your life takes a turn you don't expect and you have no feeling that God is doing anything to help you through it or save you from it (which is a feeling the atheist does not experience, because they obviously realize bad things happen and don't expect cosmic help).

In my opinion, atheism is just less burdened with religious weight that simple drags on every day life. We as atheists are free to act, feel, and think as we please.

I was watching the news the other day, and they looked at 2 SAT questions and found how many people got it right and how many people got it wrong. The First question was, how long does it take the earth to travel around the sun. The choices were 24 hours and 365 days. 46% of the people put 24 hours. The second question was, is light composed of energy or sound waves. 54% of the people put sound waves. That means that about half of the U.S. population got these 2 easy questions wrong. Well, about 50% of the U.S. population believes in creationism instead of evolution. If I was a betting man, I'd be willing to bet that the 50% of the U.S. population that got these answers wrong are the same people who believe in creationism.

Did I not tell you earlier that a Jew is such a noble, precious jewel that God and all the angels dance when he farts?---Martin Luther

“What then shall we Christians do with this damned, rejected race of Jews?
First, their synagogues should be set on fire, and whatever does not burn up should be covered or spread over with dirt so that no one may ever be able to see a cinder or stone of it. And this ought to be done for the honour of God and of Christianity, in order that God may see that we are true Christians.
Secondly, their homes should be likewise broken down and destroyed.
Thirdly, they should be deprived of their prayerbooks and talmuds in which such idolatry, lies, cursing and blasphemy are taught.
Fourthly, their rabbis must be forbidden under threats of death to teach anymore.” – Martin Luther

“If I find a Jew to baptize, I shall lead him to the Elbe bridge, hang a stone around his neck, and push him into the water, baptizing him with the name of Avraham!.. I cannot convert the Jews. Our lord Christ did not succeed in doing so; but I can close their mouths so that there will be nothing for them to do but to lie upon the ground.” – Martin Luther

“I hope I shall never be so stupid as to be circumcised; I would rather cut off the left breast of my Catherine and of all women.” --- Martin Luther

“If we are to remain unsullied by the blasphemy of the Jews and not wish to take part in it, we must be separated from them and they must be driven out of the country.” – Martin Luther

Jesus did not call them Abraham's children, but a "brood of vipers" [Matt. 3:7]. Oh, that was too insulting for the noble blood and race of Israel, and they declared, "He has a demon' [Matt 11:18]. Our Lord also calls them a "brood of vipers"; furthermore in John 8 [:39,44] he states: "If you were Abraham's children ye would do what Abraham did.... You are of your father the devil. It was intolerable to them to hear that they were not Abraham's but the devil's children, nor can they bear to hear this today.------Martin Luther

Learn from this, dear Christian, what you are doing if you permit the blind Jews to mislead you. Then the saying will truly apply, "When a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into the pit" [cf. Luke 6:39]. You cannot learn anything from them except how to misunderstand the divine commandments...------Martin Luther

St. John Chrysostom: “I know that many people hold a high regard for the Jews and consider their way of life worthy of respect at the present time... This is why I am hurrying to pull up this fatal notion by the roots ... A place where a whore stands on display is a whorehouse. What is more, the synagogue is not only a whorehouse and a theater; it is also a den of thieves and a haunt of wild animals ... not the cave of a wild animal merely, but of an unclean wild animal ... When animals are unfit for work, they are marked for slaughter, and this is the very thing which the Jews have experienced. By making themselves unfit for work, they have become ready for slaughter. This is why Christ said: “as for my enemies, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them and slay them before me’ (Luke 19.27).”

Jesus and the Essenes

The Master Jesus was a very simple man who walked in the street in the middle of the people, who spoke directly with them and who lived in the company of his few disciples. Of course, there was a goodness, a purity, a royalty which emanated from him; but he was nothing like the "inaccessible high Master" which all of the churches have completely fabricated.
The Master Jesus was completely accessible, simple, yet imposing, and that is what pleased the crowd. When he was in town, people knew his habits and waited for him in the places where he often gave a teaching through parables, stories and discussions with those who asked him questions or who tried to trip him up. Everybody could come and participate in his talks, and anyone could speak. The Master gave a veiled teaching; he did not reveal all of his thoughts. Those who were interested by this first approach could follow him and become one of his disciples.

that god can not be all knowing, all powerful, and all loving? Maybe two of the three, but certainly not all three. My reasoning is that there are several planets in our solar system, and ours is the only one in which we humans inhabit. Don't you find it a little odd that god would choose to allow the serpent to roam free to tempt people here on earth, when it could easily have been restricted to Pluto or Uranus? Did god not know letting the serpent run free with us would cause us to sin? Was he powerless to stop the serpent from being let loose on earth? Or did he think it would be cool to let the serpent mess us up? Does he think throwing us in an eternal deep fryer is justified, given that this whole thing could have been avoided if he had just put the serpent somewhere else? Isn't that just a tad sadistic?

i read this quote today and think its pretty smart. who agrees with this quote. and if the creator of this quote reads this, please tell me what u thought and how u feel. kudos!

"And leave the God BS out of this. You DO NOT know any more about God than the rest of us which is virtually nothing. Unless you have spoken to God and he's told you something, do not pawn it off like fact. Religion is ficticious at best...that's why no diety ever is actually produced.

You take your religion and twist it so you can discriminate against people. If there is a God, I'd like to think he's accepting and loving since we're suddenly capable to comment on what God does and thinks. Rediculous"
