I was watching the news the other day, and they looked at 2 SAT questions and found how many people got it right and how many people got it wrong. The First question was, how long does it take the earth to travel around the sun. The choices were 24 hours and 365 days. 46% of the people put 24 hours. The second question was, is light composed of energy or sound waves. 54% of the people put sound waves. That means that about half of the U.S. population got these 2 easy questions wrong. Well, about 50% of the U.S. population believes in creationism instead of evolution. If I was a betting man, I'd be willing to bet that the 50% of the U.S. population that got these answers wrong are the same people who believe in creationism.

I'm sorry to say but you would lose your bet. I answered the questions correctly and remembered the answers from science class in my seminary days back in '79 (seminaries are where young men go to study for the priesthood). Yes, even in a place where I studied theology I also studied science. I do and will always believe all was created, but I also know that the data of science is helpful and does not disprove creation. The simple reason why is that Creationism (the Genesis account) is not interested in "how" the world was created. Evolution and science are interested in "how." Creationism and the Genesis account are only interested in "why" the world was created. Both disciplines are studying the same subject, but asking two very different questions. And since both are asking very different questions there is a different methodology for both. For science it is empirical inductions and deductions. For creationism it is philosophical and theological. It is when science expects philosophy and theology to have scientific functions as theirs and vice versa, we have the problems of today and no real realtion or answer can arise. May the Lord bless and keep you. May the light of His face shine upon you.

You would bet wrong. All of the Christians I know believe the same way. Evolution is a real thing. Everything changes over time. Man was created by God in His image. Most of the people I work with are Christians or have been raised in a Christian home and have not accepted Jesus into their hearts yet. They are educated people who know how to think for themselves and also know that some things, you just got to have faith.

Wow! I didn't know such illogically, biased, ridiculous thinking was even around anymore. I'd figure evolution would've done away with brains that could conjur up such pointless nonsense by this point in evolutionary progress.
Hey everybody, interesting thought about americans who are happy with everything America is doing.
- about 25% of Americans are smokers, about 25% of people in America are happy with where the country is heading. I would bet that all the smokers in America are the same people that are happy with where america is heading.
Good gosh...
By the way - 73% of Americans believe in some sort of God that created the world, Atheists make about 2% of the world's population.
Next time try thinking before you to make a pointless statement.

That makes sense.
While I doubt the correlation is 100%, I'd be willing to bet that scientific ignoramuses are overrepresented on the creationist side, since being a creationist implies ignorance of science in the first place. I would assume ignorance of biology would correlate with ignorance of physics and astronomy.

That is about as safe as betting on sunrise in the east. The state of scientific education in the US is atrocious, and poses a serious threat to the US maintaining its present lead in technology. At least part of the problem is the NEA, resisting the notion of competition in the school system.

No try again. Many people at my high school didn't study in science class. Many of them were atheists, agnostic, or something else.
I knew both answers and I believe in God and creation. (but not necessarily the version put out by some churches... with 6,000 year old earth and all that.)

Well that's a pretty huge assumption that you're making. i'd say it's a simple matter of education. an uneducated non-creationist who was attempting these questions would be in no better position to state the correct answer than an uneducated creationist.

people in religion can't even get their religious beliefs correct or proof of them !
so, something like creationism is just another guess...
Here's the Solution for religion:
Create a Private, Personal, Direct, Divine Relationship with Our Creator and save Your Soul from religion's and atheist's beliefs.
Love and Believe in Our Creator;
Love and Believe in Yourself.
Only with Our Creator's Love and Peace will we be Truly Free!
Without God, there is No Love; Without religion, there are No Wars!
"religion is Spiritual fraud"; "religion is the Worse invention of humanity" - Jesus Christ, Buddha and any one else with Spiritual intelligence.
atheists = all the people in religion = all the ignorant fundamentalists = all the cults/superstitions = paganism

Interesting, but another option could be that half the folks just didn't give a damn and given the peoples answers I've observed here I'd say that has some validity.
