Let me explain

In Canada, we have publicly funded Catholic Schools (which have to accept all denominations, but the students have to accept that Religion is taught).

And

We also have publicly funded Public Schools (which also accepts all denominations, but the students have to accept and realize that Religious concepts are not taught)

Does the United States follow a similar model with Public and may Christian schools?

ok for example you do something terrible to someone and then you are sorry, according to Christian analogy your sin is forgiven... But what about that person? What if that person did not forgive you? how could Jesus (pbuh) override that person's hurt to forgive you? logical or illogical? you cheat on some one or rape some one then feel sorry for it, if it is not for consequences people do it over and over then feel sorry they did it...

It is my view that more than reciting text book prayers at home and places of worship, if we are of help to our brethren in distress, we shall enjoy real satisfaction in life and God's blessings. I write this having suffered starvation in my younger days. Many a time I even cried out of hunger. And in my every day communication - even this day too - with God I remember a person who gave me a Christmas gift about 67 years ago to put me at par with other children. It is my practice to give some relief to some deserving individuals and not organisations of ostentation. Don't you think it is our duty to share God's gifts to us with our not so fortunate brethren? Please excuse me if you find this message a little personal. lileeann33...

This is a mistake. In Mark 2:26 it mentions a story found in 1 Samuel 22, but there it says the priest's name was Ahimelech. So did Jesus make the mistake, or Mark? Notice that Matthew's Gospel, which used Mark as a source, 'fixes' Mark's mistake by leaving out the high priest's name (Matt. 12:4).

A close friend just sent me an email that her younger brother commited suicide within the last couple days, and the viewing is tomorrow. If one of your close family members commited suicide, apart from the obvious answers like praying for the family, and expressing sympathy,
What did your friends do for you in this situation that comforted you the most?
What did your friends not do for you in this situation, that you wish they had done?
Thank you for your answers in advance.....

I mean there are other views besides the Christian one. If we are to allow this view as Intelligent Design, then we should be teaching all others.
Buddhist
Zoroastrian
Native American
Hindu

I mean they have beliefs that are just as valid as Intelligent Design (as proposed by Christians), why not?

Oh, I know .. because that would be taught in a Religious Theory class not Science!
Leave Science where it is, and have students select electives in Highschool that would include other Religious Beliefs ..
This way they are exposed and have the choice to make their own decisions, on which religion they would like to believe or not over science.

God sent Hagar and Ishmael into the deserts of Arabia when he was a small baby.

Gods plan was to protect the progeny of the first born from all invasions, disasters and
hellenization so that the Last Prophet would come from the land of Ke'dar.

God revealed his name to Abraham and Abraham taught Ishmael who thereafter taught all the Arabs.

The Name "Allah" was known in Arabia even before the coming of Prophet Mohammed.

Allah is the personal name of the Lord of Abraham which has been forgotten by the Israelites.

The MOST famous name for God in the OT is called the Sacred Tetragrammaton –It is YHWH.

Yahweh was changed into Jehovah by Christians -- Mark 12:29

Harpers Bible Dictionary says that the name JEHOVAH was "the result of the translators' ignorance of the Hebrew language and customs" (1985 edition , p. 1036)

Jehovah is a mistaken name of YHWH.

The Book "World Religions From Ancient History to the Present" says : "The name Jehovah is a medieval misreading and does not occur in the Hebrew Bible" (edited by Geoffrey Parrinder, p. 386)

The Interpreters Dictionary of the Bible says the name Jehovah is "an artificial name" (vol. 2, p.817)

Asimovs Guide to the Bible says that the name Jehovah "arose by mistake" (vol 1, p. 135). The author further says : "This mistake has persisted and will probably continue to persist" (p.135)

"When it came to God's name instead of putting the proper vowel signs around it, in most cases they put other vowel signs to remind the reader that he should say "Adonai". From this came the spelling Lehouah, and eventually Jehovah ...(pg. 8 ,Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, 1984)

"The truth is , nobody knows for sure how the name of God was originally pronounced". -(page 7- Watchtower Bible and Tract Soceity, 1984.)

The name Yahweh is derived from the statement God made to Moses in Exodus 3:14. Moses asked God as to what his name was and he got the reply -- "ehyeh esher ehyeh" .

The editors of the NEW JERUSALEM BIBLE explain this as : "The Hebrew can be translated literally 'I am what I am' , which would mean that GOD did not wish to reveal his name to them" (p. 85)

"The truth is , nobody knows for sure how the name of God was pronounced" (Pg. 7 - Watchtower Bible and Tract Society)

I find it strange that people who are always going on and on about how much they love and care about the human race are perfectly ok with their god tormenting the people they love for all eternity. (See the third answer.)
If you actually do care about people, wouldn't you ask god to show mercy no matter if the people are alive or dead? Why do you get off the hook once they are dead and say 'well, god's judgement, I'm not even going to ask him to be compassionate, too late'?
Torturing people for all eternity for crimes they commited in a finite lifetime seems incredibly unreasonable.

I'm specifically looking for the map as it is known in the King James Bible. The one in mine is zoomed so that the outer bordes are not shown. I want to see the whole area so that I can see the borders. All the King James Version on-line Bibles have text but I can't find one that shows maps? Or is the one in my King James Bible it?

A lot of violence in towns and cities is fueled by alcohol, including domestic violence. People lose their jobs, homes, and relationships through alcoholism.

Yet there has never been, as far as I know, tabacco or cigarette fuelled violence, nor violence caused by 'binge smoking', nor any drink-smoke campaigns. So why the emphasis over smoking, when excess alcohol consumption is a bigger social problem?

the most common place for Bibles to have this name (its also written as Yahweh at times) is at Psalms 83:18, many bibles have removed the name (its sometimes stated in the first few pages of your bible stated that the name has been removed and replaced by LORD or GOD).
Check this link, it is in the King James Version: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalms%2083:18;&version=9;
Psalm 83:18 (King James Version) 18That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.
& not in the New American Standard and not in many others. Psalm 83:18 (New American Standard Bible) 18That they may (A)know that (B)You alone, whose name is the LORD, Are the (C)Most High over all the earth.
Would your worship mean more to you if God's name was incorporated more?
Does it matter to you if Gods name was removed from your bible?
What if your minister/preacher knew God did have a name but didn't use it in his sermons or didn't tell you about it?
