Mat.1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
So, how do we get Jesus, the name we see in our Bibles? As stated, His Hebrew name is Yeshua (English transliteration). In Galilee, where He lived, the 'a' at the end was left silent so the pronunciation would have been Yeshu, in that region. Of course, as we have seen, the Hebrew story of the life of Jesus was very soon, after His death and resurrection, translated into Greek. In the translation, Yeshu(a) became Iesus. In Greek, there is no 'sh' sound thus the 's' in the middle, and in the Classical period, it was typical to add an 's' to the end of male names, thus we get the Greek pronunciation easoos (Iesus). From there it is easy to see how we get Jesus as a transliteration of Iesus. The 'J' corresponds to the 'Y' in Hebrew and the 'I' in Greek. For example, the Hebrew name Yeramiah becomes Jeremiah in English or Yahweh becomes Jehovah. So, Jesus is the name we have come to love, but His given name was actually Yeshua, and perhaps it is this latter name on which we should focus.

This is important for us because Hebrew is the key to becoming more authentically Biblical. In Hebrew, the phrase,"and she shall call his name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins," is actually a play on words. "…and she shall call His name Yeshua for He will yoshea His people…(Matt.1:21). Both are derived from the root "yesha", to save. So Yeshua means savior, the implications of which are astounding.

I asked if everyone would would pray for me this morning I had to get out at dark in my bad neighborhood. I did get to the meeting safely but I did encouter some scary people (drug dealers or something) so I jumped on the first bus that came and walked half mile to my job. I received a violation notice for this. Now who of you out there is offended by someone concerned for their safety? I put the question in the religion section also as I thought it was the category was anything to do with religion but it seems to be only for mockers rather than christian people with morals. I guess I might have offended someone by suggesting that some nice thug or gang member might harm me when I'm out alone in the dark. Gee why don't people get a life and stop being offended at everything. Does anyone see how ridiculous this is?

Is it just me or do you find yourself breathless sometimes because there's not enough time in a day? Kids activities, family obligations, social life, house keeping. I don't even work outside my home and I have help sometimes but, I don't have enough time. I shouldn't even be on here. Things I should be doing but, I need a break. Maybe I need a course in organizational skills? Not enough time! lol! Do you feel the same?

Nebraska man is a very minor footnote in human palaeontology. It was misidentified in 1922 and this misidentification was widely exposed in the scientific media within a few years....a wonderful example of the one of science's strongest attributes...its self-correcting nature. It hasn't been talked about by evolutionists in over 85 years. Creationists continue to tell bald-faced lies about the whole episode (see http://members.cox.net/ardipithecus/evol/lies/lie020.html ). Isn't it a sin to lie??? Isn't one of the Ten Commandments: "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor."

Why do So many Ask Questions about GOD and have Never Read HIS WORD to see what the Answers are Nor WHO GOD SAYS HE IS? ? ?

(2Timothy 3:13-to-17) But evil men and seducers will go forward to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

(2Ti 3:14) But continue in the things that you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them,

(2Ti 3:15) and that from a babe you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

(2Ti 3:16) All Scripture is God-breathed, = = and is profitable for = = doctrine, = = for reproof, = = for correction, = = for instruction in righteousness,

(2Ti 3:17) that the man of God may be perfected, = = thoroughly furnished to every good work.

Thanks, RR

As I was reading the questions today, I noticed many questions with answers trying to convert those of non-Christian religion to Christianity. Everyone has the right to their religion, whether it be Pagan, Christianity, Muslim, and so forth. Why do people have to believe their religion is the only way?

alot of rules are interpreted from the bible, from relatively obscure passages. In Genesis chapter 3 God says explicitly not to eat the fruit from the apple tree, Adam and Eve did it and God opened a can of whoop ass on em. Why havent we learned from the mistakes of Adam and Eve?
