Whats the point of religion? You shouldn't have asked people on here, because they are all bible-brain washed. -they'll start giving you quotes from the bible about how '''being gay is wrong.''' They're religious bigots, and their religious nut-cases, -and there's a lot of them about, -too many.

What does homosexuality have to do with Darwin/evolution? So far as I am aware your sexuality is not defined or even influenced by your genes.

It's like saying what's the point of accountants in evolutionary terms? You could say that it serves no evolutionary point. And you'd be correct. But you'd also be completely irrelevant.

If this is supposed to be an argument showing holes in evolutionary theory, then it clearly falls short. But worse, it raises questions about religions - why would a god make homosexuals? And remember, homosexuality is not solely the preserve of humanity.

Or to answer the question in a better way, the point of homosexuality is love. Or sometimes lust.

If the process of human evolution is a result of the survival of the fittest, then it strikes me that homosexuality would be counter-productive. Not much hope of homo sapiens staying at the top of the food chain if the balance between heterosexuals and homosexuals changes and procreation begins to slow down.

Please don't get me wrong, folks. I have nothing against homosexuals. I'm just trying to take the question to its logical and literal conclusion in the light of the evolutionary process.

Science doesn't have the answer to this perplexing question. Since homosexuals have only 1/3 as many offspring as heterosexuals, one would think that any homosexual allele would be selected against and be very rare in the human population. And yet a staggering 3% of the male human population are gay (the evidence that male homosexuality is largely genetic is introcontrovertible). There are some other detrimental alleles that are found in high frequencies in humans (e.g., cystic fibrosis and sickle cell anemia). Carriers of these traits are resistant to diarrhea and malaria, respectively. Thus, it seems likely that women who are carriers of the gay allele must be at a selective advantage but we don't know what that advantage is.

Population control... so enough food and resources to go around... Also both gay types ie lesbians and gays appear to have common positive traits...

ie gays tend to be creative and good at entertaining thus lowering pack stress and helping the guys and girls find a mate ie hair dressing and fashion design.

The lesbians tend to get the guys horney and help girls handle themselves.

etc.

Humans are a herd animal you need to look at it that way...

Ie if everyone was a farmer who would defend the pack or make houses etc.

Darwin wise gays tend to have marketable skills and do well in jobsand lesbians can get males to hand over all their resources by kissing

Heh, sensible way of looking at it, assuming homosexuality is passed down genetically. If that's the case, allowing complete freedom for homosexuals, instead of forcing them to conform and have heterosexual relationships as has happened in the past, would technically lead to them dying out through lack of passed-on genes.

The theory falls down if homosexuality is not passed down by genes, or once you allow for artificial insemination/surrogate mothers and so on.

I think some people who answered this didn't quite get what you were asking, and instead decided you were just being abusive.

There is no point because a lesbian does not have a desire to be sexually involved with a man.and a gay man has no desire to be sexually active with a woman.in fact many gay men would puke if they came face to face with a *****,where lesbians or some.....love a penis shape tool to play with.....The only point I can see is thst a gay person is perfectly gay,and thats ok.
many straight women cannot have children, and they are perfecly unable to fall pregnant.
its all naturally perfect.. a lot of gay men are advanced more on an emotional level than all men and women, and that is only my experience.

Assuming Darwin was right, then homosexuals are the evolving mutating sexual forms of human beings. I don't know. Don't thumbs me down. In his books, he discribed evolvution as the genetics mutating. Read it yourself.

Animals (including humans) practise homosexual behaviours.
You should explore Darwin a bit more...it's not about procreation but cooperation!
The point of homosexuality...love of course!
