Buddhism isn't "compared" to science. Science is working closely with various Buddhist groups (and Hindu gurus in many respects such as studying the effect of meditation on the brain/body, etc.) on a regular basis lately and are basically, generally coming to the same conclusions about the changing, impermanent nature of all things known and now starting to be theorized that the Buddha came to knowing, philsophically, under the bodhi tree.
Case in point, "The Quantum and the Lotus" Matthieu Ricard and Trinh Xuan Thuan
His Holiness' (The Dalai Lama) ongoing discussions with various scientists almost (if not) every year on discussions of mind, the brain, the body, etc.
B. Alan Wallace has a great website with much information to read that can "enlighten" you to the realities of the Buddhism/science discussions.

I've heard of Buddhism being compared to philosophy--as it questions everything. Buddhism is full of good things for our minds, bodys, and ailments. One may be of any other religion (or of no religion) yet practice Buddhist ways.

A lot of the Buddhist ideas have their roots in Hindu teachings. If you study Hindu teachings it sounds a lot like quantum mechanics would if you took out the math.
Makes you wonder how these so-called uneducated people came up with these ideas 4000 years ago.

It doesn't focus on metaphysics-the supernatural or miracles etc. and emphasises the need for logic. Evolution of souls towards nirvana resembles the evolution of species and karma resembles cause and effect so it is a very rational and scientific system of philosophy.

I've never heard of Buddihsm being related to science, but I could guess why someone might say that...One branch of Buddihsm uses pure logic in the approach to religious understanding. Science also employes logic and observation...Perhaps this is the connection. [other branches of Buddihsm are more mystical]

Because sometime it stands by fact. Jesus stands by fact, faith and super natural miracles.
