What things were with Hephaestus?

Hephaestus was the deformed god of the forge. Though he was slightly lame, with one leg much shorter than the other, he was one of the most respected gods because of his talent. He was famous for forging Zeus' lighting bolts and for crafting the magic belt of Aphrodite which enhanced her loveliness.

His symbols are those of the forge: the hammer, the anvil, the cooling tongs, the forge fire.

Well, he's a blacksmith god (Roman name: Vulcan), so he'd be related to fire, the forge, the hammer, iron. In many legends he's got a bad limp. His wife is Aphrodite (Roman name: Venus) but it was an arranged marriage... she cheated on him with Ares (Roman name: Mars).
