I mean a sin is a sin. There are no grey areas. It is a black and white issue. So if you are gay (which is not a choice, but that's another issue) which the church believes is a sin, what makes them different from the couple next door that is living together before marriage? Both situations are open and honest, yet the unmarried couple is likely to receive a warm welcome to the church (with perhaps a stern lecture) while gays are outright made to feel not welcome. Why are the situations so very different? They are both a sin in the eyes of God.

BTW, I am living with my fiance and have never felt out of place in my church. The priest has never even said anything. And it is common knowledge that we have lived together for 3 years.

I am very curious how Americans are viewed by you. Specifically New Yorkers (where I call home), I never met any English people to ask and would like a general consensus if possible. I'm just curious and want a realistic, brutally honest feeling from you. Give it to me straight guys inquiring minds want to know how you see us.

For all you linguistically sensitive people out there: would you write Smorgasbord or Smörgåsbord? "a la" or "à la"? "Cyber cafe" or "Cyber café"? And so on. On the one hand, it seems "correct" to use all those foreign accents and things, but on the other hand, it seems standardised to just Anglicise everything.

In a recent question, someone suggested that the beliefs of Christians who claim that any scientific evidence that contradicts the bible should be rejected should be respected. What do you think of this? Should such beliefs be respected? Are there any consequences to society if they are/are not? This involved not just Christian beliefs, but all religious beliefs that go against provable, scientific reasoning.

since the world was repopulated by Abraham, that technically makes us all jewish, does it not?

For the record, a Christian told me this in answer to the bible verse that says only seven hundred seven thousand tribes of the jewish nation will be allowed into the kingdom of heaven

Thought I would ask this again since I did not get a good answer from a Christian. See the ABC News item below. This woman started as two separate embryos that later fused in the womb into one. She has two different sets of DNA in her cells. Some cells have the set from one twin, some from the other.

Let's be clear. Two entirely separate embryos in the womb with presumably 2 souls. The two embryos combine into one embryo. Neither embryo dies because the cells from both are still in the combined embryo.

How many souls are there?

Seems like four possibilities to me:
1) Zero (correct answer by the way)
2) Two
3) One (Because one of the embryo souls "dies" when they combine and the other is left)
4) One (Because both embryo souls "die" and god creates a new one. So three total souls are involved)

If you pick 3 or 4, please explain in detail how this would work.

Look here for the story from ABC:

Has is ever occurred to anyone else, like it did for me, that yearning for excessive, scalding heat may be an indicator that you yearn for hellfire? I was in the shower just now, and I couldn't get the water hot enough! I know some christians must enjoy a nice hot bath (unlike the devout Catholic grandfather from Family Guy, who liked his showers cold as ice). Just a weird thought! Atheists as well as theists, what is your input? Am I a demon?

that is not destructive to the embryo, does anyone see any reason that research should not continue using these cells?

For those who haven't read the article, scientists have discovered a way to extract stem cells from the amniotic fluid in the womb, rather than from the embryo. This does not hurt the embryo in any way. Does anyone feel there is still a moral issue surrounding THIS particular form of stem cell research?

that the Almighty is neither male or female, not father or mother, he or she, but an it? And being that we all come from this IT or spirit whichever, why do we feel like we are so different when in reality it is the world that tells us were different. Yes there are definitely physical differences, but as for the spirit of a person, the emotion, the pain, the love and joy, its all the same..dont you agree? The world forever practices division..man against woman, white against black, child against parents, its not the way its supposed to be.

Does not descreditting the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden completely cancel out our need for Jesus Christ? Without the original sin we would be sinless and not need Jesus to die for us on the cross.

good or bad?my eyes cant see the fine print in my concordance well enough to read it..Also in connection in the book of psalams chp 103 verse 12 God says "as far as the east is from the west,so far hath He removed our transgressionsfrom us"I've always wondered about these two scriptures because i have done some bad thing and have ask God to forgive me but on judgement day will He punish me even though He has forgiven me for the things i have done knowing all along it was wrong with the ideal i will ask for His forgiveness.Sin is an awful burden and i want to start the new year by becomming a better child of God.

I believe in equal rights ladies, but c'mon if my car gets a flat tire on my way to work, it would be great for a man to offer to change it. I'm a lil tired of the I am woman hear me roar because personally I have better, and frankly more important things to roar about than calling something as trivial as this "sexist". Am I the only one who feels a woman and a man should have ther own place?
