Does not descreditting the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden completely cancel out our need for Jesus Christ? Without the original sin we would be sinless and not need Jesus to die for us on the cross.

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they sinned and passed that imperfection onto all of their offspring. If they had not committed this act, they would have remained perfect humans and would be alive today. The sacrifice of Jesus would not have been necessary on the torture stake. Jesus' death was to balance the scales - perfect life for perfect life.

But the sin did happen. And even if it didn't start there (which it did), there is still Sin today. The only sinless person is Jesus. We needed Jesus to die on the cross to be the ultimate blood sacrifice. He fulfilled the Old Testament laws requiring a sacrifice for committed sins. His blood covers all sins, if we ask Him. We need to repent of any sins we commit and ask Him to cover them in His blood.

When I was a Christian, I believed that the Fall was a parable for the human condition. Humans are sinful by our very nature, not by something our parents or grandparents did. For us to be punihsed for Adam and Eve's sin would be counter to God's decree that children not be punished for their parent's sins.

The Adam and Eve story, to me, was as much a parable as Jesus' story of the servants and the talents. That made it no less useful, just...less literally fact.

But...I'm not a Chritsian anymore, and I don't believe in sin, so you might not want to take my word for it. Still, I knew several pastors who taught the same thing.

You are absolutely correct. This is in fact what the church teaches.

EDIT: Even if the story of Adam and Eve is a myth, it is still true that sin exists in the world, so there is still a need for the Savior.

Well... Yeah.

1Corinthians 15:22
For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.

Romans 5:12-18

12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned-- 13 for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. 15 But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. 16 The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose from one transgression resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions resulting in justification. 17 For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. 18 So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men.

IF Adam and Eve did not fall we would not have a sinful inclination to cause us to sin thus Jesus would not have to come.

discrediting any aspect of the Bible that ultimately shows our need for forgivness cancels out our need for Christ, Yes ... This is a sticky question, due tothe fact that there is a lot that can be said to minimize God/Jesus's necessity in our lives ... but remember, those things are spread through out the world by the father of all lies!! Satan.

Why would it? At some point, G-D would look down and see that Man had finally arived and breathe the soul into them. They would then sin and fall.

Even evolution admits that humans came into being, just gradually, not suddenly. The only question would be... did G-D breath that soul into **** erectus, **** neanderthalus, **** sapeins, or did he wait for modern **** sapiens sapiens? Either way, regardless of how he timed it, we would still be a fallen race.
